Tone-Zone Problem

I am having an issue with a custom 1570 that I have been working on. I had my brother do all of the wiring and just now got it working... The Air Norton and the single coil sound pretty nice, but the Tone-Zone in the bridge sounds flat and twangy/tinny. Distortion sounds great in the other pickups, but disappears in the Tone-zone. Could it be as easy as just rotating the pickup? Wiring?

Re: Tone-Zone Problem

Most likely, it's wired incorrectly. Flipping the pickup around won't change the sound like that.Look for a short in the wiring or a cold/bad solder joint.

Re: Tone-Zone Problem

or maybe the wires got mixed up and youre using only one coil (its tapped).

try touching the poles with something metallic (a screwdriver) and if it sounds thru the amp, that coil is active.

if both coils are active, maybe its wired in paralel, that could sound weaker than normal too

Re: Tone-Zone Problem

yeah it sounds like a coil is off. make sure the black and white wires from the TZ are connected to the same point on the switch.
