Tonezone and Drop Tuning?

I got a RG570 a couple of weeks ago with a dimebucker fitted in it, but i found that it was too dark sounding and the uber scooped mids werent very good either. So i tried out a duncan custom. It fixed some of my issues but still sounds very very dark, infact i swear it sounds darker than the dimebucker does.
As a last resort i have bought a dimarzio tonezone, i have been told that it should warm up this guitar, the only thing i'm concerned about is drop tuning. My RG is set up for DGCFAD and i dont want my notes mushing up too much.

How is the tonezone for tuning down a full step?

Re: Tonezone and Drop Tuning?

I have used the TZ with a step low tuning. It worked pretty well. But then again it is also going to depend on the guitar, amps, and strings you are using. If the sound is muddy then you can go up to a more steel/ less nickel string for a quick and cheap fix. Also another thing to point out is that my guitars are basswood body/ maple fretboard with floyd trems which tend to be bright anyway. Hope this helps

The guitar is basswood body, rosewood fretboard, i'm using Ernie Ball "Not Even Slinky" 12-56 strings.
Amp wise i'm digital at the moment....

I have a basswood ibanez rg570 with maple fretboard, using d'addario 11's tuned to drop C, with a Tone Zone in it and it sounds absolutely freakin' killer.

Re: Tonezone and Drop Tuning?

i don't do really low tunings with my TZ, but drop d with a TZ in mahogany is massive. the sound is huge for rhythm. i also use the TZ in my mahogany rg7620 and same results. i run line6 flextone 2 hd's, pods, combos, and spiders. same reults with each. monstrous.
