Tonezone/Humbucker From Hell

Hi guys, ive been thinking of putting the Tonezone/Humbucker From Hell combo in my RG1570. its basswood with rosewood board. What are your opinions on this?anybody have experience with this kind of combo? is there any volume loss when switching between pickups? I'm kinda woried the output difference would be too big. will it make my bridge sound like a neck pickup and my neck sound like a bridge pickup? cause that would be weird... i already bought the tonezone actually and am looking for a good neck pickup. this just came into mind. if you guys have any good neck pups for the tonezone please tell me! any info would be most helpfull. thanks

You should be able to balance out any difference by lowering the HFH.

Great choice for a neck pickup by the way.

Most of paul gilbert's guitar are with tone zone and HFH instead of tone zone with paf pro. In the neck you don't need a megavoltage, cos the strings vibrate the most there.

The HFH is specifically designed to sound more like a single coil sound in the neck position, so will be more flutey, and less fat than a lot of neck humbuckers!

Volume wise it should balance nicely with a Tone Zone in the bridge. If you fancy something with a little more output the Paf Joe might be the pickup for you.

Hi, I have a PGM500 which has the very same pickup combo...

YES there is a noticeable volume difference when switching, but only on clean, and not so much that it's disturbing or anything. With enough gain on the dirty channel, the lower output will rather transform into a cleaner sound...

I understand why Paul Gilbert likes the combo, as the HfH has a very distinguishable neck pickup sound (very open).
However, personally I like the PAF Pro neck better, I think it would make a better pair with the Tonezone - but then, I'll never mess with stock pickups on a signature model, it just seems sooo wrong!

Cheers,
Carsten
