tried the air zone in the neck wow!

I am using the regular norton in the bridge after trying it and being floored with it so i had a air zone that came out of the guitar and wanted to try it in the neck for the sheer hell of it
it definitely is something i can use and i was suprised at how great a neck pup is makes!!
think sweet child of mine tone or just listen to the neck pup in EVH's wolfgang or EBMM guitars, it is that tone and output
as a matter of fact the norton is the bridge pup tone of the EBMM EVH or axis guitars
dimarzio says to use a tone zone and air norton but i found that the regular norton in the bridge and a air zone in the neck is the closest to the evh set
anyway the air zone in the neck is only too dark if you play light,it responds to your pick attack, it will brighten up when you play hard, this is a real dynamic neck pup and has great clarity for such a fat warm pup
it is really just a ultra fat paf with more output and dynamics
I have found my perfect dimarzio set now, NORTON in the bridge and the air zone in the neck!

interesting... i love the air zone in the bridge, but i thought it would be too bassy/boomy for the neck.

about the regular norton:
i've always wanted to try that pickup... how similar is it to the air zone in the bridge?

it is a lot more early EVH than the AZ is and it has great harmonics
it sounds a lot more paf like also more than the AZ does at least

Re: tried the air zone in the neck wow!

I used to have an Air Zone/Tone Zone combo in my UCEW, it was ok, but it didn't jump out at me as being the be all and end all of neck pickups. Must have been the mahogany and the massive maple top, but I can see how the Air Zone would sound good in a Basswood guitar.

You're right about the Norton sounding close to the EBMM Axis/EVH models. I thought the exact same thing a decade ago when I bought a Norton and installed it in my Jackson. Ended up having to use it as a neck pickup as I needed something more 'Metal' than EVH. Still an awesome pickup.
