Twang on my RG1570

I was noticing a lot of twang on my 1570 with its Evo bridge. I figured it was because of the high-end on the Evo and I wanted to switch it out to a Tone Zone. I'm still noticing twang. I checked and rechecked the wiring but I think it might be a bad 5-way. It's not consistently bad but it's worse some times than others.
Anyone else have this problem or something similar?
Before you ask, I searched the forum and don't own a multimeter.

Re: Twang on my RG1570

LOL. One thing you can do is bypass the switch altogether to confirm or deny that line of reasoning. Could be that the switch has bad internal connections.

Have you ensured that both coils are "on" when appropriate with the "allen wrench tap" thing?

Is the pickup old (i.e. needs repotting)?

I don't know if you're experiencing the same issue with both pickups.

Thanks for the quick reply. Good idea with the bypass. I need to get a decent multimeter so maybe I can check this without removing it and just hitting the wires at their contact points. I never checked pickups.
Oh yes, I always check with allen wrenches. Nothing worse than restringing your guitar only to find out you have a bad connection.
Both pickups are new. The twang was more noticeable with the evo and the "twang" is somewhat intermittent in both.

Re: Twang on my RG1570

sounds like the pickups may be wired in parallel or out of phase. i would double check the wiring. especially since these are new. i have had to repot some new pickups as well. so this is not that uncommon, but considering that i have only had to repot about 5 new pickups out of the possibly hundreds i have installed leads me to believe it's more of a wiring issue.

This may be a longshot but I still think its worth checking out. Pop the spring cover off and lay a piece of foam to dampen the springs from vibrating.

Re: Twang on my RG1570

Fixed the problem. I installed the black/white wire and the red wire on the opposite terminals on the switch.
Dumb mistake, but maybe the answer will help someone else in the future.
Cheers!
