Ya know, I just can't decide on pups. I've been searching the web, checking out sound clips, reading feedback and bouncing back and forth between high output and not. I would love to get high output pups 17k or so just because the guitar really begs for it but, I'm more of a Rock/Blues player and I want to make a choise that I'll be happy with. It wouldn't do me any good to build a super screemer if it's under utilized. I want an ax I can play as my #1. I'm looking for pups that can kick ass when needed but also have a great PAF tonal qualities when rolled back. I don't want to go any higher than 13k in the bridge and 9k in the neck. The only trouble is, all I've found that come close to this are cheeper pups like GFS or Guitarfetish VEH and I've never been one to go for cheaper gear and I have my doubts.

Input please!

Sounds like you want something like DiMarzio Paf Pros or the Duncan Jb/59 combo. There's plenty of different pickups offering variations on the slightly hotter PAF. Alot depends on body wood imho. Is your project body made of basswood?

Rock on!

Yes it's basswood, RG 470 with a 570DX neck.

Being basswood it should sound bright regardless of pup choice

I know, I know, I pulled out the trem and dropped in an Edge. (old picture)

Why not follow Ibanez and go with the Tone Zone/Blue Velvet/Air Norton combo like on their 2009 RG's. It seems to be a popular choice for basswood RG's on Jemsite too.

Rock on!

Great sound clips on the DiMarzio site, Tone Zone and Norton sound great.

I also like the Evo 2 bridge/Breed neck. Still up in the air on the single coil at this point but, I feel I'm actually starting to get somewhere.
Thanks man

Re: V1, S1 & V2 ?????

Got 'em..... I pulled the trigger on an Evo 2 and a Breed neck from GC online.
Now I have to locate a harness for a 470 and oh yeah, a middle pup but, I have a few of those hanging arround from a couple of old strat projects so there's no great rush to find one yet.

Now the waiting...I hate waiting
