VSBL: Breed pickup buzz question

I finally got around to swapping the bridge Evo of my VSBL out in favor of a Breed, and I love it! The Evo's highs were over the top for me, now I've got a browner sound with (IMO) more of the guitar's true character. I created about a dozen before/after soundclips that I'll post when I get the chance and the space to host them.

Anyway, one small annoyance is that there's a faint but detectable buzz in the bridge position, and I'm not sure there was before. Here are the facts:

- there's (almost) no buzz when I switch to the neck pickup (still Evo)
- the buzz isn't affected by touching the strings or metal parts, so I don't think there's a grounding problem
- all my other guitars, with their stock pickups, actually buzz more

I'll try putting the original Evo back to see if there's a difference. But I could swear in the sound clips I can hear one (had I been smarter I would have recorded before/aft clips of just the ambient buzz).

Some pickups buzz more than others, unless it's really noticeable then it's probably normal. Neck pickups all ways buzz less.

That's weird. I've noticed the EXACT opposite. My neck pickups in every one of my guitars always seem to buzz a tad more.

If you play the guitar around or record using your computer, most likely, the culprit is your PC monitor.

Whenever I record with my bridge Evo, I have to back away from the screen to eliminate buzz:

On the other hand, the stock INF3 neck pickup makes far less noise, no doubt due it's lesser output.

Re: VSBL: Breed pickup buzz question

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think I'll live with it for now. There's a flourescent light I forgot about that might be affecting this, although it doesn't have nearly the effect on the neck pup as it does on the bridge. If I turn the guitar just the right angle, the buzz disappears, just as it does with my other guitars. I'm still curious about it, tho, so I might pop the old Evo back just to see what happens.

My real worry was that I botched the soldering work somehow (my first real solder) - I'm guessing that if I did, the effect would be much more noticeable and blatant than it is (again, the new pup sounds pretty good)? Is there a chance that I overheated a pot or something? Or a chance that even with correct wiring, I've exposed more of it so that it's not as shielded behind the pickguard? Worrying sucks.

... Try turning off the light?

As I already said, the neck pick-up will buzz less due to it's lesser output.

That's what happens exactly with me...Whenever I face a certain direction (North or South), the buzz stops. I've learned to live with it, and I don't really notice it while playing at other places, so I think it's just my home.
