Thumbs up

what a suprise!!! SCHALLER pups! real good older eddie vanhalen tone!

I tried a schaller paf(golden 50) in my one ibanez and it smokes man!!!
i love these things!
sounds just like vanhalens older tone
these have a regular paf tone but they have more drive for whatever reason?
i love em! real mojo going on in the tone!
now where in the hell can i get more of them?
i bought this one used for $25

They're fantastic. I find them a little more compressed than a PAF, perhaps a little more "modern" sounding. I have one in the neck of my Ibanez Les Paul and I wouldn't trade it. I had a guitar with two in there, and was kind of sad when the guy I sold it to chose them over some other stuff, because I would have liked to keep them.

you used to be able to get them from stewmac long ago, but i can't remember if them still have them. i used to have one in a bone stock 1985 kramer baretta. sounds like a mix between a paf and jb. not hot by any means, but sounded sweet. very VH2. especially considering the guitar. good pickup, but for my money: tone zone or duncan custom.

A local shop here might have some used ones. If you really can't find more let me know in a pm or e-mail.

+1 on Schallers rocking. My first Kramer Pacer had them, and they DID sound great.

i agree about the VH tone it gets
mine is nailing his first record tone!
i have it in a RG 550 and i swear it sounds just like his 1978 tone
i use a marshall modded plexi(david bray modded it for more gain)
what a underated pup!
I also love the duncan custom but it never got vintage enough for me and that is why i am stoked on this schaller it is hotter than a 59 or a older paf but it has that tone?

Are they as good as Dimarzio in terms of sound quality.

I haev seen them somewhere in the UK, I will try and remember. I seem to remember that they were reasonably priced as well.

IMHO the schaller sounds more natural than the dimarzio counterpart
DP-103 PAF
i have not tried the virtual or air classic yet
but have heard they are very good
most dimarzio's to me seem to have a "artificial" thing going on?
this schaller is real transparent, open and has real good sparkle but it also has more of the drive of a hotter pup like a Jb maybe
it is only a 8.2K but somehow they have more output than other 8K paf types i have tried?
