what dimarzio pups are similar to blaze II for my jem

I have a jem777sk with an original set of PAF Pro in it.
I also have a 92 UV7BK with the BLAZE II pups. I really
like the Blaze pups, they have more balls and make my
boogie sound more saturated. I play really heavy high
gain metal and hard rock stuff.

I would like to buy some replacement pups for my jem
that are similar. I know the blaze are ceramic
and the paf's are alcino so i'm probably thinking ceramic.
does anybody have any suggestions?
dimarzio have so many different types of pups.

steve special is the 6 string version of the blaze (but it's only a neck pup), it makes a very good couple with the air norton (like in the older Petrucci's model)

steves special is not a neck pup, it is actually a bridge pup but you can put any pup anywhere you want, and yes, it does pair well with an air norton in the neck

I thought the Breed was the 6 string version of the blaze? Hmm, must have been thinking of something else then...

But yes, Steves Special + Air Norton = Awesome combo.

from what I understand the breed is like a round and fat pup and the steves special has scooped mids just like the blaze, I may be wrong though

yes...only a typing mistake , and of course you can put it everywhere you want but it's a matter of output: bridge pickups have more output than neck pups, so you may have some troubles trying to balance the volume of the pickups if you put a bridge pup in the neck position

Well, I think I'm sold on the Steve Special. But i'm still a little
torn on the neck pup. I've played the JP6 and I wasn't a big fan
of either of the pups. I know the neck pup isn't the air norton but
is a modified version of one. I guess I would like something I can
do some warm leads with and sounds good clean.

Some Dimarzios for the neck I like with SS in the bridge:
Air Norton (Warm yet articulated, alnico)
Paf Pro (Modern bright PAF sound, alnico)
Evolution Neck (Very modern balanced sound, ceramic)

According to DimarzioTech, Evo neck model is very close to the Blaze neck.

Re: what dimarzio pups are similar to blaze II for my jem

I really appreciate all the advice on the pups. So far Im thinking
about going with the Steve Special in the Bridge and the Evo Neck.
I'm just curious though. if I wanted to go with a different Bridge pup,
maybe something a little heavier. Knowing that I like the Steve Special,
what would be a good choice. Because I'm playing the Blaze 2 in my
UV7BK, I think I'm going to like the SS but sometimes I think the Blaze
2 is a little muddy or bassy. What would be a good heavy pup with a
little less bass?
