According to Dimarzio, The Breed. That is, if you're asking about Dimarzio's.

Thanks.

I'm installing into a new SAS36,

What pickups would you recomend? preferably DiMarzio.

I was thinking Cruisers for the singles, but I'm after a pretty ballanced consistant sound.

um i think the fast track one or crusier single coils personally. i actually have a timmons bucker that i bought off a forum member . i personally didn't find the breed too close to the timmons , but i also have a multi-bucker which has a cusier single coil and fast track one single put together to make one four coil humbucker and it sounds more simular to me then the breed to the timmons .

maybe if you ran the breed in series it would sound closer to the timmons .

Re: What pickup is closest to the sound of the Andy Timmons bridge model?

I just installed a set of Dimarzios in my SA1260, two Cruisers and one Breed. It nails Timmons sound. I read somewhere that the Breed is the closest thing to the AT bridge pickup in his signature AT300 guitar. I have to call Dimarzio though. They packaged a regular spaced bridge Breed pickup in an F spaced package sealed with the stickers and all. I was mad because I put a regular spaced in the first time and realized I need the F Spaced, so I ordered an F spaced and after I installed it it looked the same so I measured......sure enough it's a regular spaced one!!!!!!

Andy has loads of mids in his bridge pickup, and the treble is rounded off. Seems to me the Breed bridge would be an excellent choice for a similar pickup.

Re: What pickup is closest to the sound of the Andy Timmons bridge model?

The Specs of the Breed sound VERY similar to the Tone Zone bar less output. Just how similar are these pickups sonically, and is there a chance the pickup could muddy up in the Mahogany, Maple top SAS36?

Something else I'm looking at is installing a FRED / Mo Joe in the Bridge, and sticking Cruiser necks in the mids and Necks.

What do you folks think?

i would call dimarzio and ask them what would be the closest, i think it is the breed but the timmons was a little less compressed and a tad like a fred but without the crunchy mid range distorted .

i get pretty close with the Fred in my JS1000. It also depends on the amp. the fred has lots of mids but is kinda lacking bass, so i bump up the bass a bit and roll off the treble on the amp (carvin mts). it's not exact obviously but it's close enough that when i play along with andy's cd's it fits right in.

Re: What pickup is closest to the sound of the Andy Timmons bridge model?

The Breed Bridge and The Tone Zone are not so similiar... The output difference isn't really noticable. I've used both in a mohagany RG and it's hard to choose a favorite actually. If either one is muddy on low end notes it would be TTZ. The Breed is a little warm in mohagany and works better for single note stuff where TTZ has better chord definition. Overall, TTZ has a little more attitude and chunk where the Breed is more crunchy, smoother, liquidity, I would call it "loud vintage".
