What pickups are in my Jem??

Guitar has a 97 7vwh neck and body is a pre 1990 777VBK so I have no idea what the pickups are??

Humbukers - On the top they are blank no dimarzio markings. On the bottom it's black with Dimarzio made in USA engarved and there is a round blue sticker with US Pat 4.501.185.

Sounds - Very Hot and clear and bright.

Are these Evo's or something else??

Single coil - Has a large rectangle magnet on the bottom, similar to my 85 MIJ squire.

Sounds - Pretty good and has great in-between tones.

Is this a Jem single???? or some cheapo replacement???

Forgot to add all the pole pieces in both humbuckers are the allen (Hex key) type. Not the traditional flat or phillips screw varity.

Well if it has been modified or a different guitar to start with, the best thing to do is pull the pickguard and look on the back of the pickups, just looking that the colors will not help.

it should say dimazio and DP#, then you can look up the model number.

Re: What pickups are in my Jem??

Theres no way to really tell what they are without a DP#. I doubt there the VBK pickups since there green PAF pros. Also note your pickups arn't F-spaced like they should be if they were the origional DiMarzios. I dig the vintage look you have going on there though..

Re: What pickups are in my Jem??

the only other pickup that i know of that came in a jem before the dbk were evos and paf pros .

if the birdge is hot and bright it is most likley an evolution because they are fairly high output and have a large treble and mid repsonce with a tight bass .

if the neck is an evo it should be clear and compressed a bit with little flub or dirt .

as the others said if they dont have a DP # there is no way to tell for sure which pickups they are

Re: What pickups are in my Jem??

what year did the AANJ come in? wasnt it early 90`s? 92 or 93?

if so then the AANJ neck wouldnt be on a PRE `90s body.

What does the toggle do between the pots?

My PAFs have allen keys in them as do my Fred`s, my tone zone looks like a Seymour duncan and has flat poles on one a blade screws on the other.

Interesting

Re: What pickups are in my Jem??

It's a AANJ conversion I got the guitar for $800 NZD from memory about $400 USD so I didn't care. It's got alot of the features I like - ebony fingerboard, scollops on the lower frets, edge trem, black hardware e.g. very Evo but the body conversion is a little crappy in parts as is the paint and neck joint. Still for the money it does the job great. I'm going to add the Evo bits one day just for a laugh.

I couldn't see a DP# on the back where do I find it and is it engraved to the back of the pickup.

Many thanks.

Re: What pickups are in my Jem??

Forgot to add the mini toggle doesn't do anything at the moment but I thought about a piezo or split the humbuckers for full on strat sounds.
