What to replace a Lil' Screamin' Demon with? (ToneZone / Hotrail...?)

Hi,

So I got this ESP800 Strat which I want to use as main backup guitar at gigs because it's a really nice guitar.

It's just I don't like the Screamin' Demon I put in the Bridge. It's too cutting, especially compared to the ToneZone I have in one of my other Strats and the one I have in my ESP800 Tele. Maybe that's related to the ESP800 being heavier than usual Fender Strats (harder wood and probably more of it, as can be seen here):

I'm after something punchy, bassy with clarity in chords but not too much highs and no cutting presence. High Output is a must but it hasn't got to be extremely high (no x2n alikes) oh and of course it has to be in singlecoil format. I've been recommended a SD Hotrail, how does it compare to the Screamin' Demon and the ToneZone? What else can you people recommend me?

My Amp is a 6100 Marshall 30th Anniversary with JCM800 Cab, keep that in mind... I had no problems with the sh12 when I still used my ENGL heads but the Marshall is just nicer for me overall ... here's a Sample of the Sounds I'm after:

The JBJRs in mid and neck position are nice, though.
Anyone need the Demon btw? Might open a thread in the classifieds later on...

for what you want I'd reccomend a Cool Rails. It's a very nice balanced pickup. Should give you that punch you're looking for.

The JBJrs are hotter than the SD, interesting choice for the bridge on that. The Hot Rails will probably get you where you want to be, it's more of a midrangey pickup like the TZ but the bass is probably a little tighter, the output will be similar to the TZ. It may be a little less bright than the TZ, that might also be in the right direction for you.

You might also try swapping the neck or middle JBJr with the SD, that might work for you without spending any $.

Cool rails are nice and you can use a hot rails in the bridge...

If that was my guitar I'd put HS3s in it and a Chopper in the bridge, I really dig the Choppers sound.

Mh, as I said, I want to keep the JBJr.s where they are... Guess I'll go with a Hotrail in the Bridge then? I can only find Cool Rails für Neck Position, so...

Thanks folks, I'll order one next week when the complete band does the online shopping again. Unless some cool other recommendations come in till then.

Gex: Yeah, I also got a Tele of the same ESP Series:

Love them both.
