Which Bridge Pickup?

Hey guys, I'm building a project strat with an alder body and a one piece maple neck. I have everything planned out for it, except for the bridge pickup. For years I've used a Duncan Distortion for everything, but I'm ready for something different, specifically a DiMarzio. I play mainly thrash metal along the lines of Megadeth and Slayer. Many have recommended that I get a Super Distortion, but I already have one in my Dean flying V and do not like the bassy tone I get. I'm basically searching for something with plenty of mids along with a very tight bass response and cutting highs, much like the guitar tone on Rust in Peace. I greatly appreciate the help.

Re: Which Bridge Pickup?

I hate to say it but... you just explained the X2N. 1. Metal 2. lots of mids, highs, and tight bass. Just go to www.dimarzio.com and check out the EQ of it and its basically what you want. I use X2Ns and they're amazing for metal.

Other than that, check out Steve Morse Bridge model.

Re: Which Bridge Pickup?

The Steve Morse model interests me. I would like to know more about it. I really cant find much information about it but I've heard people describe it as DiMarzio's "diamond in the rough" sort of pickup. Would it be able to do really tight palm mutes and have really clear high gain sounds. I've noticed the DC resistance is pretty low.
