IMO, the regular Norton (F-Spaced) is absolutely killer as a
bridge pup
in Gibson's. Also can't go wrong with a Super 3.

Re: which Dimarzio pickup for Gibson SG?
Are you mad?
ToneZone will most definitely be too bassy and muddy on an SG. It was even too bassy in my alder RG. It made it sound about as dark as my
Les Paul
with 498T, even though the acoustic sound of the RG is much brighter.
I'd recommend to get a Gibson 498T or 500T in the bridge.. I find the Gibson pickups more 'natural sounding', hard to explain. They bring out the natural sound of the guitar better, they don't have such extreme 'eq' in the sound.
The 498T will just give you a slight boost over the 490T, just making it sound hotter in general. The 500T is even hotter, and gives you a tight, focused sound great for metal/shredding, but it still has a very warm and natural tone to it, something that most hot ceramic pickups seem to lack.

I have a set of 57 Classics in my 61 RI and they are great. I know you want Dimarzios, but 57 Classics are one of my top3 pickups

+1 on the
Dimarzio norton
in a mahogany bodied guitar. Another good option would be the Virtual paf and
Virtual Hot Paf
from Dimarzio but you might want to get them soon if you're even considering them because they're being discontinued for 2008.

Megadrive should sound good in a Gibson.
I had a FRED in the bridge of my Explorer for 2 years and I really liked it.

Re: which Dimarzio pickup for Gibson SG?
super 2 and
super distortion
.
if it were mine and it had to be dimarzio: air norton and tone zone.
if it were mine, period: duncan distortion set or the alnico 2 pro and duncan custom.
my main concern would the the crappy tuners and plastic nut. get rid of those and replace with some
locking tuners
that will retrofit those old kluson style and get a tusq nut...it's game over. gibsons are notorius about having tuning instability. this would help tremendously.
have fun on this little journey.

Re: which Dimarzio pickup for Gibson SG?
Thx for the inputs from all the great forumers here~~
I've just graduated, and it's time to do something on my SG.
I can't stand with the tuners, nut and bridge anymore..... And most importantly, my ABR-1 bridge need surgery, and i not gonna repair it. I'll just change the bridge.
1. Does the Kahler 3300 need any routing/drilling work on my guitar?
2. Any recommendation on tuner?

man, i wouldn't drop a kahler on it if it were mine. i'd go either tone pros, or lr baggs x-bridge. a piezo would kill and lord knows you'd have enough knobs. as far as tuners go, gotoh has tuners that are perfect retrofits that reqiure no drilling and are locking. don't forget to swap the nut, too. gibson just has crappy nuts, cheap and plastic. for stability, get a preslotted graphtech. for tone, get the preslotted tusq.
