Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

I wan't a sound that has a nice chunky and juicy sound( I hate it when the sound is dry and lifeless) with a powerfull midrange, the highs are smooth not ice picky, and the low end is big but really tight, and also the sound has that when you play palm mutet things it blasts out from the speakers, and finally clear on full chords.
I know pickups are just one factor in the sound....
I'm open to anything, not just Dimarzio, but mostly passive pickups, because I like to use split or parallel sounds on my clean channel.

What would you suggest?

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

Except for the tight bass bit, you just described a Tone Zone. Norton would come a lot closer on the tight low end, a little more presence in the high end. Hard rock sounds like Guns & Roses to Van Halen suit Norton well. If you're going heavier than that you may need something more powerful.

Talking Duncan, the SH-5 Custom (not the Custom Custom, SH-11) would be pretty much perfect for what you're after. Tighter than Tone Zone, more powerful and chunky than Norton.

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

I'm more in to heavier stuff. Metalcore, Hard Rock, melodic metal.
I have a mahagony bodied guitar, wouldn't the tone zone get too muddy in it?
I thought I would get answers like the breed or dominions

From here I think I like the best the Blackouts EMTY, 59/Custom, JB

Or thinking of trying out Sublime pickups:
Custom handmade pickups by a Hungarian guy, and he alters the sound to the buyers likings

Usually his pickups are made of an Alnico V and Neo combo

You're right to be concerned about Tone Zone in mahogany. Steer clear, in my experience. The Duncan Custom on the other hand was perfect in mahogany for the stuff you're talking about. Cant' speak to the other pickups you mentioned as I've not tried them.

DiMarzio Dominion will be right up your alley. Duncan Custom maybe even more so. I've actually got a brand new, never opened Custom in trembucker spacing for sale at the moment in the classifieds if you are interested. Ended up with two when I only needed one.

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

Everything I read keeps me wanting to try the Dominion...LonePhantom really has me interested now.

Again I can't recommend anything better than the Custom in my experience, for what you need.

Yeah, the Dominion might not quite have the low end you are after. It's pretty big and it's very tight, but the Custom's low end is even bigger, but less mid range.

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

From the sound I hear in the 12 SD pickup comparison, I like the JB and the 59/Custom better than the Custom, they have mor midrange, but lot of peaople say those pickups are more for rock than metal. I like a powerfull midrange, not a honky midrange, but if there is a good midrange, the whole sound sound more musical to me, and I really need good note clarity, we start to use more full chords on our band, and the X2N doesn't deliver the tightness I would need :S

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

The Custom does have the midrange necessary, and won't get honky. JB can get very honky, and is a bit hit and miss in mahogany. The 59/Custom is awesome, but yes, it probably isn't quite enough for real high gain metal. It really points back to the Custom.

I really dig the sound in the beginning, nice, fat and juicy

Re: Wich pickups give me the desired sound?

The sad thing is that pickups in my country cost twice as much as in the US, and can't send it back, or I could to the US, but that costs a lot of money too :S
