Wiring Help Needed

Ok guys, how would I go about doing this wiring setup with a 5 way switch and a DPDT switch? Pickups are DiMarzio X2N + Virtual Vintage + Air Norton.

Basically, I want a config like this -

Position 1 - Regular Humbucking Mode Bridge
Position 2 - Regular Bridge + Middle
Position 3 - Middle
Position 4 - Regular Neck + Middle
Position 5 - Regular Neck

So something like this

Then when I flip the DPDT switch, I want something like this -
Position 1 - Split Bridge
Position 2 - Split Bridge + Middle
Position 3 - Middle
Position 4 - Split Neck Neck + Middle
Position 5 - Split Neck

Like this -

This would be possible for a config like this, right? (Sorry for messiness) -

Thanks

Re: Wiring Help Needed

Technically it should work the way you have it in the schematic. Basically it's just wiring it as an regular H-S-H guitar without any coil tapping in positions 2 and 4, but rather you have a coil tap rigged up on a push-pull or something similar along those lines. The only thing I'm not too sure on is whether or not activating the coil cut will cut the inner coil or the outer coil. But hey, test it out. If it cuts the wrong coild just replace the red wire with the black wire and it *should* reverse the coils.

Yeah, or I could just turn the pickup around. But wait, how would I know which coil is being turned off in the first place?

Actually the way you have it should work. Because I just remembered that when you wire up the H-S-H wiring with coil taps on positions two and four, the black and white wires are actually sent to ground so yeah that way you have it should work. Swapping the red wire with the black wire will result in the inner coil being cut(which may or may not be a good thing depending on what kind of sound you're going after)

Plug it into your amp, no need to restring it, then lightly tap the polepieces with a smalll screwdriver, hex wrench, or other metallic object. Th ones that you hear loudly are on.

Re: Wiring Help Needed

Not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but another wiring question:

Is it possible to get the following out of a regular 3 way "tele style" switch (and if so, how):

POS 1: Bridge HB
POS 2: Bridge and Neck inner coils
POS 3: Neck HB

Similar to some of the positions with a 5 way and 3 pus, but I'm curious about 2....

Re: Wiring Help Needed

Do you have to have an additional switch, or is there a combination with the four conductor wires that will do that on a 3 way?
