Wiring Help Needed - Swapping EVO for EVO2

I have a 2002 JemVSBL. I just attempted to swap out the evo for an evo2 and apparently I've c*cked up the wiring somehow. I've taken a look at all the wiring diagrams on this site and on ibanez. Unless I've missed something, the guitar was orginally wired up in a way that I haven't seen on any of the diagrams. It has one of the newer looking selector switches. The EVO was wired in the following way:

00 00
B 00
00 00
00 RG
00 00
00 00
OTAX

^imagine that is the selector switch^

The white and Silver were soldered to the volume pot.

I hooked up the the evo2 in the exact same way. It appears that all positions except bridge only are working (not too sure though because its not strung... Im merely tapping the pickups with an alan wrench). I'm about to try to resolder the connections to rule out any bad connections. Any ideas would be appreciated.

a little easier to read
http://www.jemsite.com/tech/img/t_wd_777i.jpg

it shows two switches so it is easier to read .

black and white are soldered to the same loaction and the bare and green are the ground wires . The red is hot .

Thanks for pointing me to those diagrams. That isn't even close to how the thing was orginally wired. I'd have to rewire just about everything to follow that diagram. I wonder why mine was done so differently.

Re: Wiring Help Needed - Swapping EVO for EVO2

I think I have it.. There was a bridge that was supposed to go connect with the terminal that the black wire was connected to. Crazy.. I wish i could find a wiring diagram that explained this configuration. It had to have been wired at the factory that way. I can tell that I'm the first human to do any electrical on it.

It's looking like this now:

B0 00 <- bridged
B0 00 <- bridged
00 00
00 RG
00 00
00 00
OTAX

if the evo sounded really really bright it was probably wired in wrong. You may actually take the original evo and wire it back in Right and play to see if it sounds the same or if the factory just screwed up.

Re: Wiring Help Needed - Swapping EVO for EVO2

The original evo always sounded right. All of the pups are wired in differenly as well. The neck evo also has the red and green going to a terminal together, and the black going to another terminal on the selector. All pups only have the white and silver going to the volume pot. Also, only terminals on the OTAX side are being used. I'm a little confounded because there is no ibanez or dimarzio wiring guide that I can find that uses this configuration. I actully looked at every single ibanez diagram for 2002 and 2004. Crazy!

The serial number is F0220785. I wonder if anyone else who has one built on that same run has the same wiring.
