Wiring Q: Split Position Buzzing, Supposed to be Humbucking

I replaced the bridge pickup in my RG and the bridge split/middle position hums now where before with the stock pickup it was humbucking. This is the next selection up from the bridge-alone on the 5-way. Also where before this 2nd position had a nice Straty split twang, it now sounds like it's merely a lone, hot single coil. I'm pretty sure the middle is on in this position though because I can here it pop when I touch the polepiece with metal.

My hunch is that the switch is selecting the wrong polarity coil from the bridge so that it's not humbucking now but I'd like to hear from some experts (Scott O.A.T.?). Do I just reverse the hot & ground wires on the bridge pickup?

Re: Wiring Q: Split Position Buzzing, Supposed to be Humbucking

which pickup did you put in the bridge ?

you may also go back and check your switch , those little lugs are close together and i know sometimes it may look like a clean solder but some times even one little strand of core wire can cause the switch to not function right .

also another thing to check is make sure all the pickups are grounded and that your pot's grounds are connected and that they lead to the universal ground .

if you have a dimarzio in the bridge make sure you have both the black and white wires connected to the same lug .

just give a little more info, like the model ,and the pickup.

Oh it's an old RG560 and a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge. The 1, 3, 4 & 5 positions all sound like they should. I'll double check the wiring cavity though.
