Hi folks,
Have any of you had any experiences with an X2N in a maplewood guitar?
I currently have a Super 3 in bridge of my Lado (which replaced the original too-shrill Duncan JB) , and while it sounds fantastic (and well-balanced), I want to try something different/old-school in this guitar (hot pickup with a medium-gain type of amp). The eq voicings for each are as follows (B,M,T):
JB.......: 5.0/6.0/8.0 (original pick-up, went to the Super 3)
Super 3: 6.5/8.0/5.0 (in the Lado now)
X2N.....: 5.5/6.5/6.5 (thinking about this)
I know from experience that a pickup with eq-treble rating of 8 (assuming that a Dimarzio 8 equals a Duncan

, is too much for maple (even alder in my mind), and I'm trying to figure out how bright of a pickup I can put in there without it being shrill (not to mention the pain-in-the-ass process of changing pickups in guitar that has pick-up rings).
To pre-empt an obvious comment; this guitar CAN be a one trick-pony for me since I use it only for traditional British metal (e.g. Maiden)...cleans don't matter in this case.
Thank-you in advance. Cheers.
