Yep, another what to get pickup thread :)

I'm going to place an order within the next few hours on a green Air Norton for my RG750. I had decided on the AN/TZ combination, but now i'm not so sure on the Tone Zone. From the samples on the Dimarzio site, i also like the Breed and the FRED. I'm definitely getting the AN ( love the sound of this), but now i need some suggestions on what would pair well with the AN and has a nice clean up sound too!?

BTW, a friend and my neighbour came in while i was listening to the samples and they both liked the FRED. This is what has thrown me into a little bit of a quandry

Hello Ibanez Girl,
I have an Ernie Ball EVH, and the pickups are VERY close to the AN/TZ combination according to DiMarzio. I can say without hesistation that it's the best-sounding guitar I own. I love the EVH's sound so much, I put a Tone Zone in a Kramer Baretta. While I'm sure the other pickups would sound great, I think the TZ will be tough to beat.
Good Luck,
Brad

I've never really listened to the dimarzio sound clips before, and I just did.

I can tell you that they are pretty representative of what the pickups sound like. So I hope that helps.

I do think the Fred has a more tubular sound, and that's not really my thing.

I think the Tone Zone is a great pickup.

I run a TZ and a Fred in my daughters SZ720.
If I remember correctly, the Fred's in the neck and gets the most use.

Not to complicate things further, but the Evo2 sounds good with an AN. It's clean up sound is so-so however (you need to really work with it for a bit on your amp and with the tone control).

The distorted sound, however, is heavenly

Thanks for the comments.
I've placed the order for the AN/TZ combo.
If i don't like the TZ i can always sell it later on.

Somebody had tried the breed (bridge version) in bridge and the air norton in neck?

I'm not sure about this combo
