Your Favorite HSH pickup combos

Hello, Jem site newbie here.

I have a rebuild project . . . actually an RG 350 body with pickguard. What are the fave H-S-H combos you guys love. Just curious to hear your opinions and I am sure a lot of others are as well. I am sure it all personal taste, but still love to hear your opinions.

Seems most popular are the PAF Pro Neck / Tone Zone bridge. or Air Norton Neck / Tone Zone bridge. EVO neck / bridge, PAF Pro Neck / EVO Bridge.

Wonder why everyone says the middle pickup is bad, but then why doesn't anyone upgrade it? Just want to know what you would put if you had the money to do so. Notice the True Velvet seems to be a popular choice, any other?

Also Dimarzio and Ibanez, seem to be the most common pairing. Doesn't any one use Duncans (JB / 59 combo) or other brands? Then again these guitars where probably designed for these pickups. Ibanez does have a relationship with Dimarzio.

Thanks!

The favorite HSH pickup combo for basswood 24 frets floating bridge guitars is the one I have now in my RG570, and it is:
AirZone (N) HS-2 (M) MiracleMan (B)

Thanks Frodo, that is a good recommendation. Where can you find the Bare Knuckle pickups in the US? How did you wire the HS2? As a stacked humbucker or single coil?

Glad to see people are using something other than the usual suspects.

Anyone else?

In the Bare Knuckle web site you can find a list of USA dealers:

Bu I got mine installed in a RGA I bought in evilbay.

I wire my HS-2 in single coil mode

Re: Your Favorite HSH pickup combos

In my RG550 I'm using a calibrated set of Bare Knuckles, Nailbomb humbuckers and an Irish Tour single with a 1meg volume pot and it's easily my best sounding guitar.

Before I became a BKP endorser I used DiMarzio in mainly two combinations:
Tone Zone (B) Evo - ISCV2 (M) Air Norton (N)
-and-
Steve's Special (B) Evo - ISCV2 (M) D-Activator Neck (N)

Re: Your Favorite HSH pickup combos

Air Norton / Cruiser / Evo 2 (and coil tap the buckers). or, Steve Special in the bridge (same thing applies). Best tone i've ever had.

Re: Your Favorite HSH pickup combos

Looking at PAF Joe (neck), Virtual Vintage Blues 2 (mid), EVO-2 (bridge) going into a 250K Volume and 1 Meg tone with 0.022uf tone cap. What you think?

Also talking to Pete Biltoft of Vintage Vibe Guitars, who suggested his H-540 Alnico V, 42 gauge wire (neck), SP-90 Alnico V reverse wound, single coil P90 43 gauge wire (neck), H-54 Ceramic 8, overwound with 42 gauge wire (bridge).

Decisions decsions! Thanks for all your comments it has been an education for me.

Re: Your Favorite HSH pickup combos

Currently ... Evo Neck (reversed) YJM middle and SS bridge, in others, evo neck (yea, pretty much all my sixers have them) evo s/c (the icvs number thing) or blue velvet, bridge's are normally TZ's (however it's not unknown to have a pafJoe)

I also love the burstbuckers btw, and sound awesome in rg5/7xx especially as my last 550 has a fender s/coil too ^^

In 7's Evo7 or Blaze custom (b) AN or Blaze (n)

My fave, too, although I'll take any true single coil in the middle.

The Norton is by far my favorite bridge pickup, like the perfect mix of the Tone Zone and the Fred.
