The old Take That songs stand up pretty good now compared to some of the newer boy bands.
I like Coming Around by Simon Webb, bloody great song.

It's OK "ib2005" I wont pass this bit of info on! Personally, I never got into the "boy band" stuff. I do remember my son at 13yrs old telling "dad" that's what he wanted to do for a living...... (thank God he outgrew it)

It Was a Very Good Year, from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass album "What Now, My Love", circa 1960s. Great trombone line. Others from that album, too, like So What's New. That one got me playing piano when I was 3. Complete and total cheese. They should have sold that album exclusively in Wisconsin!

Here are 10 of my favorites, in no particular order:

Tony Macalpine (Project Driver CD) - You and Me (awesome!!!)
Yngwie - Dreaming (live version in Leningrad)
Yngwie - Like an Angel (live version in Brazil)
Yngwie - You don't remember, I'll never forget
Mariah Carey - Hero (have done an instrumental guitar version of that)
Michael Jackson - I just can't stop loving you (Working on an instrumental version of that right now)
Kayak - Ruthless Queen (a really beautiful ballad)
Michael Jackson - Billy Jean (best dance song ever)
Gary Moore/Phil Lynott - Still in love with you
Steve Vai - FTLOG
Tony Macalpine - Capistrano

Besides that, I love any ballads by Billy Joel

JP

I tend not to keep such secrets from my mates, usually i'm like "**** you, I can like it if I want!"

In no order, a mere 10:

Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only
Starship - We Built This City On Rock And Roll
Michael Jackson - Human Nature (and a lot of his other material)
Kenny Loggins - Playing With The Boys
Anita Dobson - Anyone Can Fall In Love (check the solo!)
Phats And Small - Turn Around
Oingo Boingo - Weird Science
Five Star - System Addict
Toto - Africa
Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face

#7 "Mickey" (by Toni Basil) Another shhwweet little thing...... anytime she wants to "cheer" for me...... and who's that "Mickey" dude??? He had it "made"! I mean with lyrics like this..... Jeez: So come on and give it to me any way you can. Any way you wanna do it, I'll treat you like a man...
Late in noticing this I know, but the line is actually "Anyway you want it boy, I'll take it like a man". As I'm sure you'll agree, it's a completely different conotation coming from a woman.

I agree...... What she actually sang and what the lyrics were supposed to be are slightly different. Like I said, Toni...... WOW! I still think she's hot/cute and my kinda girl! The original version song was written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn as "Kitty," Toni changed the lyrics and gender for some reason. But it worked! Mickey was/is one lucky dude!

Re: 10 Cheesey songs that you like, but wont admit it to your mates.

I generally don't care what my friends or wife think about my music, as I literally listen to at least one band from every genre you can think of.
Anyway, here's the songs I catch the most flack from:
1. Sixpence None the Richer "Kiss Me"
2. Madonna "Hung Up"
3. Duran Duran "Reach Up For the Sunrise"
4. Easy E "Real Motherf*ching G's"
5. The Gap Band "Burn Rubber On Me"
6. Switchfoot "Meant to Live"
7. Morrisey "How Could Anyone Know the Way I Feel?"
8. Spice Girls "Spice Up Your Life"
9. Stacy Q "Two of Hearts"
10. Warren Zevon "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner"

I could list for days songs that I get laughed at for listening to, but these are definitely the top ten.
