Mime on this video???....its something that has always bugged me...surely it would have been better to have released the dvd/video with him actually playing live....it completely spoils the production IMHO just watching him mime over the album tracks!!

Just wondered what everyone else thought??

The thing that bugs me most is that it doesnt do Vai any justice because...if that was the first you had ever seen of Vai, you would assume that the reason he is miming was because he isnt able to play this stuff live to a good enough level...which, as we all know, is not the case.

I kinda wonder if it was because he wanted to do all the showy offy bits like stroking his hair and stuff and so not have to concentrate on hitting the notes perfectly......in which case - it buggs me even more!!!

Yeah, he could've easily edited in a few "cool guy" moves while still playing live on the rest, huh?

Think of it like a music video for MTV. Satch has a video of him miming "Satch Boogie" that got a little MTV air time when it came out.

Yeah, but you know only the real fans are gonna fork over cash for a DVD, it isn't to try to appeal to a new market, it's for the fans.

I bought this on VHS a long time ago and was really disappointed. It's not even like the videos are any good - just him in a pretty bare studio looking a bit camp.
But it is good for seeing how he does various things, at least.

Maybe it was just a record label idea? Or maybe as its to go with the album and people like that rarely play things live note for note he couldn't be a**ed with it??
It is disappointing though
