Re: Bass GROOVE

slap was around way before Johnson.. Slap bass goes back before the electric bass was invented..

He can groove but hes no master by any means.. Hes not even high on the list of some of the best bass players.. No disrespect..

You want to see a master then you need to watch Stanley Clarke or Larry Graham, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Oteil Burbridge those are masters.

Re: Bass GROOVE

I enjoyed that one
Thanks for posting, I love those cool bass grooves.

If you like bass grooves: check out this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDmanmyUH6Q

Wooten is technically very good, and he can still grooooooove.

I've only just bought a bass and started getting into it, so thanks for the pointers! Any links that might help me improve my technique would be much appreciated. Thanks mate.

Re: Bass GROOVE

Stanley Clarke - Self Titled (Lopsy Lu the ultimate groove)
Jaco Pastorious - Self Title (portrait of tracy, continuum)
Victor Wooten - A Show of Hands(His show off CD Classical Thump anyone?)
Victor Wooten - What Did He Say (Shows his ability as a musician in different areas Norwegian Wood, Cherokee, and Naima are my favs)
James Jamerson - Listen to Motown songs.. He had his hand in a crap load of them haha..

I would start with those Cds thats enough to have ya drooling for weeks

And get the Flecktones just cause they kick ass, my favorite Flecktone song.

If this doesnt impress ya not much will, he has total control over that instrument

talkbass.com

But be warned, that site has about 20X as many members as we do here, and the amount of posting is insane! But it is THE bass forum, with all kinds of great insights and info. They'll have you GASing for a Lakland in about an hour!
