There are plenty of "Who is the best
guitarist" threads but I wanted people to have the oportunity to post who the thought was the best for rock, and the best for Jazz, and the best for country, and the best for metal etc. If this has been done tell me quickly and I'll go post in that thread. ALso, it gives us an oportunity to hear about lessor known players that aren't necessarily the "best" but in their genre are amazing.
For rock I have to say Joe Satriani
For Metal I have to say John Petrucci, some may say "but he7s not really metal." But his riffage and style are what I think metal should be like. Although, I think Dream Theater, excepting an album or two, is not as good as Liquid Tension and John's Solo stuff for hearing wis great metal playing.
For Acoustic (non-
classical) I have to say Phil Keaggy. Everything he plays is beautiful
For Acoustic classical I have to say Christopher Parkening. It's amazing what he can do on a guitar.
For players in Jazz, Country and Fusion, I really can't say I don't understand that stuff enough.
