Cruise Ship
I have the chance to play on a cruise ship this coming winter. I have been told that I will be albe to play everything from the Beatles to Van Halen. The money is surprisingly good. for three months work I could leave with about 12 grand. ( well that's alot for me ). meals and some drinks would be payed for as well as my lodging. I would have to play everyday,,, but I see that as a bonus. I think I am going to take the gig.... any comments or advise?????

Re: Cruise Ship
Go for it man!
What's better than being paid to play guitar and party? Throw in meals and accomodation and it's a hands down winner for dream job.
Rock on!

Re: Cruise Ship
Just gotta hope you don't get sea sick
Just make sure it's not a cruise for old age pensioners
And if it goes wrong....you could always "jump ship"

Re: Cruise Ship
I'm living in Alberta right now, but I was born and raised in Victoria B.C.
Any thoughts about how the ocean air could affect my guitars.

Re: Cruise Ship
Keep an eye on the neck, with the increased humidity you may be doing some
truss rod adjustments
. And bring lots of extra strings, they will corrode faster.

Re: Cruise Ship
Polish and micropore cloth... watch your hardware and wipe down religiously. You may want to tear down the electronics after you're finished as well and make sure there's no corrosion in the wiring and whatnot. If you're inside and it's air conditioned it shouldn't be too bad though.
Who's supplying the amps/PA? If yours, you'll need to keep an eye on them as well.
Small price to pay... what an excellent gig, you lucky sod
