I only hate him because he doesnt think IBZ/USA are real Dimarzios, and he always eats the last piece of pizza. Oh, and he's a Swede

Hi everyone.
I'm of Hispanic-Italian decent (100% Latin) and I'm a manager in a LARGE distribution center, yeah I look more Italian than Hispanic, by far. I have something like 35 or so employees that report to me. Black, Mexican (legal ones), Hispanic, White, Middle Eastern, Asian....
Since I was promoted to my position, I've noticed that people tend to use racism as a means to getting what they want or to protest what they cannot have. I started out (when it was a production facility - read: production is now overseas in China) as a welder operator and worked among and with others of the same level, totally blue collar (if that), complained as they did, protested conditions as I saw fit, even organized Union meetings to help them get what they wanted...Not much time had passed before I was promoted to Team Leader, still all was good and most if not all saw me as their voice....then I was promoted to Supervisor and things changed, now I could attend to their needs myself but complaints started to roll in simply because I wouldn't take their stance 100% of the time on everything, I now had the company's view to keep in mind...fast forward 2-3 years and I'm Manager, I get the complaints that I'm a racist all the time. Funny enough, apparently I'm racist against Hispanics...
I've come to conclude that when it comes to personal relationships and friendships among your peers that are getting through life just as you are, everything is good....once you're further up in the ladder of your career, the employees perspective is that you've lost who you were years ago. As you achieve your goals you're also an easy target...since I'm white looking, why not do some damage to my career and accuse me of being a racist, when it's clear by my actions that I am not in any way. The race card rears it's ugly face...not to mention the topic of sexual harrasment.

Do I see racism, yeah ALL the TIME...

I gotta say fellas. I'm thankful for a bit of shelterd ruralism. I don't run into racism in my daily life. It's an eye opener for me to read these post. A sad one at that.

Cid, once you let your wife out to cook and clean, and perform other "wifely duties", isn't it tough to get her back in the cage?

Glenn Beck is a crackpot alarmist.
He comes up with the most out there things that can almost be substantiated, then reports it as the next big threat to your safety.
I bought into his poop a while back and found out why so many peple groaned at me when I cited him as a source.

There is nothing wrong with this thread so far. Ideas are being discussed.

I will say, if you think racism is bad elsewhere (the States or Europe) you should come to the middle east. I have tons and tons of Kuwaiti friends but my god they treat the third country workers here as animals. Indians, Sri-Lankans, Phillipinas, etc etc etc. It is basically human slavery. It is nothing at all for a maid to get raped by a 15 or 16 year old kid and thrown off a 10th story balcony. The cops will definitely say she committed suicide. Case closed. Oh, there was semen in her? So then she was prostituting as well. Any traffic accident that occurs here, if it is a foreigner and a Kuwaiti, it is automatically the foreigners fault. The list goes on and on. I have seen maids with acid thrown in their face, I've seen them beaten nearly unrecognizable. No one does a thing. As soon as they get here they have their passport confiscated by their "employer" and used as leverage against them. Everything I could say would be a very tiny drop in the bucket.

Where I live racism exists.I work at a school and some of the kids use racist language on a daily basis. Living in a very white area it is unusual to see a coloured face.
It seems that it's no longer aimed at people of African origin,it's aimed more at Asian/Middle Eastern people probably due to terrorism and the stereotypes associated with that
