Re: Does anyone listen to Christian rap?

cant say im much of a rap fan. but religious or secular im glad people are singing about things that dont involve drugs, sex and violence, then it can only be a good thing as far as im concerned, its a shame that alot of children maybe put of by it saying its christian, as the songs are more likely to have underlying positive morals and attitudes.

Agreed jim777....
Quickly & hopefully briefly (my opinion).... I was dragged to church kicking and screaming every sunday until I was 17 .... now during this period I had 12 years of catholic education but the church going involved, catholic, baptist, mormon, lutheran, and "god" knows what else.
My opinion is religion is like music (don't stone me just yet) some like rock, some like country, some like metal etc etc .... it's no different for religion... just because you don't like it don't mean it is not "right" ... I believe (after 2 decades of forced religion) there is a higher power ... most likely his name is either VAI, Satriani, Gilbert, Petruci or possibly a combination of all the above......

People get preached of good morals CONSTANTLY during childhood. Ever watch cartoons? How often have you seen the "small lie turns into big lie plot?" or parts where the characters get rewarded for being painfully altruistic (No, I don't want your 1 Million dollar award even though I did your job) and punished for being remotely greedy. I don't need even more of that in my music, of all places! Not to mention the bible states an incredible amount of stories based off of sex, alcohol, and violence, and lying. In fact, I dare you to try and find, 5, maybe even less stories that don't involve any of that.

And I'm not really atheist or anything, but most christian music is about worshipping and praising God and even giving up their lives (even if it isn't literal), and they get pissed off as though they're about to burst whenever they hear anything about cults, even though many of the same basic principles are either identical or closely comparable.

Oh dude I love amish melodic death metal bands. Haven't you heard the wheat guitar solo of "flat-bottomed girls," or "Corn-mill execution" "Girl from Pennsylvania". My favorite is "My fast horse." by the band "Electricity??????"

"Corn-mill execution" sounds kinda like it would be the name of a dethklok song.........

Keep the thread focused on the music, not the morals please: Threads about religion are on rocky ground as it is.

Thanks in advance.

This just can't be more true, I only wish the world population will evolve enough, to not need religions anymore and stand up for themselves as a whole and as a part of the nature wihout having to pray to some imaginary father of everyone.
