Re: fav songs to jam along with
Cliched I know but.. Purple Rain (well a
backing track
for it really) this might sound a bit stupid but when i wanna test myself out a bit I just dial random tones on my PodXT for each verse or chorus and then play according to the tone I've just dialed. So 1 verse it's a Petrucci style tone, then an acoustic tone, then a BB king style tone etc. Some times it works some times not... it's a good exercise.
Anyway back to the thread... others I love in no particluar order
Uncle Skunk - Gutrhie
If I Could Fly - Satch
Aqualung - Jethro Tull
Can't Stand the Weather - SRV
and most things by Robert Cray - Cray's what i call an 'accessible' guitarist. Everything he plays is simple to play so you can pick up his stuff pretty easily and yet there's still that wow factor because every note he plays is 'right'

DT Metropolis or Take the Time. Definitely a workout.
'Another Day' is also a fave, just for the sheer tasty soloing that happens there.
