Favorite Lines/verses from songs
I just heard a line from a Tom Waits song that had me cracking up.
The Album was Rain Dogs, '9th & Hennepin'
'All the donuts have names that sound like prostitutes'
Another from Used songs, 'Mr. Siegal'
I shot the morning in the back with my red wings,
told the sun it'd better go back down.
If I can find a book of matches,
I'm gonna burn this hotel down.
Warren Zevon: 'Desperados Under the Eaves'
And if California slides into the ocean
Like the mystics and statistics say it will
I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill
I guess it shows what kind of mood I'm in... although I find these guys great song writers and I have nothing but admiration for guys that convey a vibe like they do.
Lets hear yours!

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
This is a recent favorite of mine, a bit from REM's 'Nightswimming'
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
turned around backwards so the windshield shows
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse
Still, it's so much clearer
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge
The moon is low tonight
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
I'm not sure all these people understand
It's not like years ago,
The fear of getting caught,
of recklessness and water
They cannot see me naked
These things, they go away,
replaced by everyday...

Gimme Danger
by the Stooges
Gimme danger little stranger
And I feel with you at ease
Gimme danger little stranger
And I feel your disease
There's nothing in my dreams
Just some ugly memories
Kiss me like the ocean breeze
Now if you will be my lover
I wish you were insane
But you can't be my master
I will do you anything
There's nothing left alive
But a pair of glassy eyes
Raise my feelings one more time
Find a little stranger
Say you're gonna feel my hand
say gotta gimme danger wild little stranger
Honey gonna feel my hand
Swear you gonna feel my hand
Swear you gonna feel my hand
Gimme danger (etc.)

El Scorcho Lyrics
Artist(Band):Weezer
I wish I could get my head out of the sand
'Cause I think we'd make a good team
And you would keep my fingernails clean
But that's just a stupid dream that I won't realize
'Cause I can't even look in your eyes
Without shakin', and I ain't fakin'
I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon.

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
That's what I said
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
I met her on Monday, twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheek day
You know what I mean
My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights
Big game is waiting there inside her tights, yeah
Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?
Yeah!!!!

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
"A bottle in front of me
is like a frontal lobotomy"
~Faster Pu$$ycat
"I am the world's 1st full blown homicidal lover
I make love 'til someone dies"
~George Lynch's Sacred Groove Album
'The beast Pt. 1'
Crappy song, honestly, but the line is so cheesy I laugh just thinking about it.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
and every day, the paper boy brings more.
'Brain Damage'
~Pink Floyd
And one of my all time faves:
(I'll do my best to transcribe what I can, but the ones online aren't even close.)
"Lady Sniff"
~ The Butthole surfers
Lady sniff my Twinkie-licker
Lady walk alone
Lately when I see you baby
Lord I gotta go
Walkin' down that stinky highway
Got to meet my man
Lately when I smell you baby
Woah, my God Damn
And I say No, yeah, lemme know
Take me back to Detroit, Pie-hole (or Tyrone), yeah heheh
Lady Sniff my broken teabag, Lady walk the road
Lately when I see that teabag, I can't take no more
lady walk that greasy gravy, Lord my ?!?!?!
Lately when I eat you baby, Lord I just can't see
Lemme know, lord, lemme know, yeah baby, nooo
Pass me some of that dumbass over there, Hey, boy I tell ya.
He he he he heh
Lady walk with fur-burger, and ??!?!?!!?!?!?!?!
Lately when I see you baby, got to have my sin (or skin)
Lady walk that greasy highway, stinky holy war
lately when I see you baby, walkin out my door
And I say no, yeah I mean no, No oh oh oh oh noooo
Ma, bring me my bacon, MA!!??
-SOLO-
Lady my old walk the walls
Oh, what the hell you say?
walk 'em all, those rolly-pollies, each and every day.
Lady use my stinky pinky, rooty- dooty-doo
Lately when I see you baby don't know what I do.
And I say No, yeah I mean no, Yeahhhh Noooooo Hey bo
Hey, wait a minute, BOY !?
GENIUS ! ! !

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
Love/Hate took some beating i reckon
I got my wine
Get out of my way
Got a chip on my shoulder
Had a real bad day
Met a little girl
Just thirteen
She's a knock-down,blue-eyed slut,psycho-virgin tease.
Rock queen,thirteen,buxom blonde,bad dream
Let me touch your cookies, let me eat your cookies, now!
Got some time
Won't go wrong
Sittin' on the sidewalk
Singing songs
Take my baby home
On the scene
Turns out she's a...koochie-koochie,koochie!
(repeat chorus)
LMFAO

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
Or some more of their gems of wisdom
She's a gang bang slave girl
I'll be your home-boy
or.....
Her name was aphrodisia
She put me on her spell
She told all her friends
I could do her well
Took her in the alley
Laid her on the trash
Then she told me everything
Nymphomaniac in black
She wants your peaches
But all you get is cream.
Or, one of my favourites...
Now you are a cannibal
You eat yourself for supper in a stew
Shut your mouth
Stop gummin'

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
What I was going to post might sound like a downer after some of the humerous posts above.
Dave Mustaine
(Holy Wars, '90):
"Killing for religion... Something I don't understand!"
A very simple statement, that resonated with me as much 17 years ago when I was just a kid in high school, as it does today. Different war(s) today vs. then but the point is the same.

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
"Wish i didn't know now what I didn't know then"
Bob Seger - Against the Wind
"She turned her nightlight on and blew him a kiss
He started back thru his green Crayola eyes"
Jellyfish - Fanclub (the eyes belong to a poster, of course)
"Its not that Im embarrassed or shy, well, you know me too well
But I want to make this song special in a way that you can tell.
That its solely for you and nobody else
For my best friend, my lover, when I need help - cliche - cliche?
Everything I want to say to you is wrapped up in an old cliche
Id waited so long to find you, Id been through the heartbreak and pain,
But of course you already know that cos youve been throught the same.
Thats why Im trying to say with my deepest sincerity
Thats why Im finding it comes down to the basic simplicities
The best way is with an old cliche
Its simply the best way is with an old cliche
Always the best way is with an old cliche
Ill leave it to the best way, its an old cliche
I love you."
Fish (the guy from Marillion) - Cliche
"Putting the pressure on much harder now
To return again and again
Just let the red rain splash you
Let the rain fall on your skin
I come to you defences down
With the trust of a child
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
And I cant watch any more
No more denial
Its so hard to lay down in all of this"
-Peter Gabriel - Red Rain (I get to sing this song once in a while - this part evokes a lot of emotion in me for some reason)
"Everybody knows
It hurts to grow up
And everybody does
It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
We're still fighting it, we're still fighting it
And you're so much like me
I'm sorry"
-Ben Folds - Still Fighting It
SO many songs...

Re: Favorite Lines/verses from songs
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
John Lennon 1971
Greatest lyrics ever written!
