Curry - no other possibility. Who wants a fish that has been drowned in oil?

Re: Fish and Chips or Curry?

Well, I voted for both. Don't know if it registered, but I really could not decide. Had a nice korma before work today, and some chips for lunch - first time I'd had chips in months!

Re: Fish and Chips or Curry?

Please forgive the ignorance of some of us here in the colony, but are chips more like fries or what we call "potato chips"? See, our fries can be shoestring, steak, or home style, and our chips can be like Lays or Dirty Potato Chips (really thick) but we call fries "fries" and chips "chips" and I believe you in the UK call fries "chips." Is this correct? Our fries are fried in oil. In fact, most of what Southerners in the US eat is fried in oil. Even ice cream. Never had it, but I've heard it's good.....Thanksgiving turkeys, pickles, you name it we'll fry it. As for fish, I caught some crappie (the a is pronounced "ah"), fileted, rolled in corn meal/flour mix and fried in oil, so good you don't want tartar or ketchup! Bream and bass are good, farm raised catfish is good, river cats are horrible. No cod here, I'm landlocked. Off subject now, time to go fetch a brew. Two countries separated by a common language thing again, me thinks.

Fish & Chips or Curry? It's too hard to decide, I'll take both please. One is good for on the go eating and the other is a nice to-go (take-away) meal. "Mind the Gap!" Sorry for being a little off topic. I just couldn't get that saying out of my head for the longest time after I visted the UK about a month ago.

Fish and chips. It has to be cod, though, no haddock. There are just too many dodgy curry houses around, I cannot vote for curry.

Re: Fish and Chips or Curry?

curry every time, I hate chips and fries....
especially those limp soggy chips that seem to be vogue at chippies....

last time I had F&C the chips AND the fish/batter were soggy....
I should have put it to better use, batter (lol) the chippy owner with limp cod....

Re: Fish and Chips or Curry?

What an impossible question!!!!
See,fish and chips you can buy and eat walking down the road to the pub,where-as a curry is normally eat in or phone from home for a take-away.I absolutely love a nice curry (vindaloo with keema rice and a keema and/or garlic naan....yummy ),but then you just can't beat proper English "chip shop" chips (NOT fries) from a decent chippy, although i more often than not have a beef and onion pie with mine!
So,in short,i guess i just can't decide!! Depends on the occasion,what i'm doing!

You have got to love keema rice. There is no finer.
