Guitar Straps.
Just something to hold the guitar up? Or Do you make a statement with it. Did you buy it to match or accent your guitar.
Now that I have my Gold Top, I'm in the market for a strap. I require a wide one, leather of high quality. I'll probably spend $50 to $80 on one. Just can't decide if I want it to look like it "goes with" the guitar.
thoughts?

Re: Guitar Straps.
Don't spend $50 - $80 on a strap just because its cool, or because its leather
Planet Waves just came out with a new strap that is a million times better than the Dimarzio clip-lock one. Instead of clip locks, the end has a button which you hold then rotate a small piece of plastic around the strap button and keeps it in place.

I think I own two non DiMarzio ClipLock straps. I really prefer the ease (and cost) of the ClipLocks and all but one are just plain black.

I just have one nice leather strap that I use for all my guitars. Accessorising is for girls.

Re: Guitar Straps.
Each of my guitars has its own strap, mostly a mix of DiMarzio clip locks and $5 Levy's straps with Schaller locks. The only one with a nice leather/suede type strap (also a Levy's) is my 78 FA-100.

Re: Guitar Straps.
^^
That's what I'm getting. It's not made out of leather but out of seatbelt material. That company only makes vegan belts. They've got some really great ones. Like these:
I love the turquoise one.
Anyway, the strap can't be just any strap for me. It has to go well with the guitar, colorwise. Black goes well with just about any guitar, though.

Re: Guitar Straps.
I got a Joe Satriani artwork strap from planet waves. My guitar is purple and so are the skulls satch drew on the strap.
But, unfortunately I bought it when I was without my guitar, just guessing it was the same shade. It's not. But oh well, I still like the way it looks. Even though I play metal most of the time I still like to pay tribute to, who I consider, the greatest guitarist to ever walk the Earth.
It's mighty comfortable and durable as well.

Re: Guitar Straps.
Whatever suits the guitar. I use leather ones on my Les Paul and strats (proper leather, none of this vegan bolox), but various nylon types on pretty much everything else. Mose important thing is that they are secure!

I hadn't seen the new ones yet. It's cool that new ones keep being added to the line.

Re: Guitar Straps.
Look at
www.cronkguitars.com
! Bryan made me a cusom strap and I really like it. I got it custom length so there is no bulky adjustment mechanism.
