Harmony Central

So they are ran by MF and won't let you post any negative reviews of gear MF is trying to promote? I submitted a brutally honest review of a Dean guitar and they won't post it. WTF? Anyone else encounter this?

Re: Harmony Central

Better question to ask is does anyone actually pay attention to Harmony Central?

Re: Harmony Central

I've honestly never been over to their forums. That's the place everyone always mentions when they want to imply something has changed for the worse in one regard or another, ie. "just like Harmony Central", or "turning into another HC", etc.

I suppose that's the sort of rap you get when you have thousands upon thousands of regulars

Anyway, though I know you're not doing it Dino, I do want to remind people that we do not take pot shots at other forums from here. Let's keep the discussion to the question Dino asked please.

Re: Harmony Central

I'm not talking about their forums it's the supposedly unbiased gear review section. I try to read reviews of gear before I make purchases sometimes and that site pops up first thing when you search almost any piece of equipment. I dunno I just thought that is what their main site was about. Not really trying to bash anyone just saying WTH you know?

See, I knew right away he wasn't talking about the Forums, they are, hmmm, how do I keep this PC, umm "legendary" in there own right.

I used to go by the review section as like a end all be all definitive guide to gear, boy was I such a n00b back then, but I grew up and I've found the review section to be grossly overrated, I would highly suggest not going by the ratings on products to purchase things, but it can be fun to compare ratings once you get a product, just to see how you would rate it compared other peoples. Here's a few reasons why I think its totally bunk:

A: Everyone's gear is different, so obviously people are going to get different results. (I.E. a pedal will sound totally different depending on where you place it in the chain)

B: Take what I said in A and replace the word Gear with Ear.

C: People rush to post a review before giving themselves time with the product, not enough time to tweak it or play around with it. A common problem is people buy something with tubes in it, it sounds like crap because the tubes are old, and post a review without changing them.

The Harmony Central Reviews are, at best, like a Science experiment without a control.

Your best bet is to find video and sound samples on the web, and to find and talk to people who own the product already and pick their brain, you'll find we love talking about gear we own, and not go by Harmony Central.

well, thats my 2 cents.

Re: Harmony Central

I don't know if it's cool to post links to HC here but the review is for the Dean MAB 1 so just look for that. I don't have a copy of what I originally posted but there are a couple of lines missing and some spelling errors that were not there. I was careful to proofread it before I sent it. It is for the most part intact, I shouldn't worry about it. Maybe someone there saw this thread...

Re: Harmony Central

Ugh, I hate the finish on that guitar. It strikes me as really flashy and ugly.

Re: Harmony Central

I should send this back. Look at that trem route. It is pretty much touching on the bass side. And there is a hole on the fretboard. Sucks because this is one of the first 100 autographed by MAB.

Re: Harmony Central

I think it looks fantastic, I had a GMC that was a dog to play, but I kept it for the way it looked. (Someone else solved that problem for me when they stole it though )
