See, I knew right away he wasn't talking about the Forums, they are, hmmm, how do I keep this PC, umm "legendary" in there own right.
I used to go by the review section as like a end all be all definitive guide to gear, boy was I such a n00b back then, but I grew up and I've found the review section to be grossly overrated, I would highly suggest not going by the ratings on products to purchase things, but it can be fun to compare ratings once you get a product, just to see how you would rate it compared other peoples. Here's a few reasons why I think its totally bunk:
A: Everyone's gear is different, so obviously people are going to get different results. (I.E. a pedal will sound totally different depending on where you place it in the chain)
B: Take what I said in A and replace the word Gear with Ear.
C: People rush to post a review before giving themselves time with the product, not enough time to tweak it or play around with it. A common problem is people buy something with tubes in it, it sounds like crap because the tubes are old, and post a review without changing them.
The Harmony Central Reviews are, at best, like a Science experiment without a control.
Your best bet is to find video and sound samples on the web, and to find and talk to people who own the product already and pick their brain, you'll find we love talking about gear we own, and not go by Harmony Central.
well, thats my 2 cents.
