I can't be the only one who doesn't like pickguards

Who else out there doesn't like them. I find them ugly and only needed on front routed guitars or guitars that are boring looking.

they only look ok on certain guitars. I like them on RGs though. In general I am not a fan

I love them. In the right context, that is. Here's my guitar. I love the pearloid pickguard on there!

Just curious; do you prefer Stratocasters without pickguards, as well?

It all depends on the guitar. More often than not though, I prefer pickguards.

Re: I can't be the only one who doesn't like pickguards

Most of my guitars have no pickguards, a lot of them don't even have pickup rings. I like a clean look.
The only guitar I have with a pickguard is a Les Paul... but that pickguard is so much cooler than those kitschy Strat-type plastic slabs.

They look better than scratches. And a scratched up pickgaurd is easier to replace than a scratched up guitar.
