I have a respect for muscians who have worked hard at their craft. I meet so many great guitarists and bands who will never be signed to a major label deal. I love lots of different styles of music, from metal to blues to bluegrass......But I just don't 'get'
Blackened Death Metal. What is the appeal? Are the members of Black Metal Bands real music fans or is it thier way of praising thier dark lord? Do fans of this type of music like it just because of the subject matter? Don't they get tired of seeing only the bad things in life? Now Nergal of Behemoth gets his own ESP signature guitar? Maybe my mind set is just too postive and optimistic to gravitate towards death metal.

fans i dont know about, but people that are equally confused over the black metal concept; heck yeah.

I don't get one bit of it either.

I don't understand normal metal.

It has no flow...always starting, stopping, all the riffs are choppy...there is no groove whatsoever.

Death Metal is worse. Just not my thing.

first I couldn't care less about genres,I like music,if I like it I buy it no matter which genre.
Second I couldn't care less about any kind of death metal still I respect differences.
Differences are the best thing in the world,they teach us how to be better persons.If somebody can sing to God I believe somebody can sing to Satan,there are all kinds of dumb people who believes even in gnomes.No matter how dumb I think they're stiil I respect their opinion,I don't agree but I respect(and I make jokes lol).
If you don't like it leave it.Why wasting your time with something you can't comprehend?
If you can't comprehend it you have to read more,learn things from the beginning and why they started.Open your horizons or at least new ones.
If you didn't you should watch Dead Poets Society,it'll gives you another point of view.

Just leave them alone. That's the same as if somebody asked you why you like playing the guitar if he/she doesn't like it at all, or why do you prefer Vai instead of the Jonas Brothers, etc. They like it, that's it

I'll never see the appeal of music thats purposely trying to sound noisy and have no music within it. I listen to all kinds of metal but I just can't listen to black metal. I'm not really interested in listening to music with lyrics that are about murdering/raping/necrophiliac that is in great detail. I also am not into any type of music that is religion related. Music is kind of a fantasy land I can go to either by listening or making my own music.. it is something I can resort to when I need to let loose or be calm. I don't want to be hearing about religion in this place, I already have that in my real life. The same reason why I don't want to hear about killing or whatever.

But honestly, people have their own opinions on what is musical. Some of this stuff is bearable and most of the time the members of these bands are either really cool dudes who don't take it too seriously or hardcore satanists that you cannot take seriously lol. You know the band Cannible Corpse? Theres an interview on youtube of the lead singer and for 8 minutes hes talking about world of warcraft. They are just like you and I it's just they like to sing about things that are the opposite of what was taught to us as good.

About the cookie mosnter voice.. I dislike it as well. I really enjoy good singing in any of my music so that's why I can't get into it. Plus I don't understand them so yeah lol.

I don't think actors who played rapers or were possessed by a demon on a movie got out on the streets and raped or ran screaming they were Satan! The same way there are musicians in christians bands because they wanted a job and not because of god.

Well, honestly, actors are actors.. but some of the guys in these satanist bands are really serious about it. I know that Slayer are chill in real life, but take a band like Deicide... the lead singer Glen Benton has an upside down crucifix burned into his forehead and claims that satan talks to him. If thats not enough just go to youtube and watch their video for "F**k your God" (the version with lyrics showing) and you'll see that these guys take it too far. (warning, the video and lyrics are highly offensive) It's not the same as acting, they really proclaim and do satanic things. I read an article in guitar world about a bunch of black metal bands whos members burn down churchs and continually get sent to jail. I even recall reading about one band member who killed another band member because"satan told him to do it."

It's really nothing to laugh about.. it's kind of sad actually.

And actually, there are a bunch of movies that have been banned by many countries. Salo, Cannible Holocost, Caligula... to name a few.

Come on, besides racist oriented metal bands like the ones who have agendas, most death metal or scary horror type stuff, are poking fun. Just like the rap world where men rap about being gangstas and bitches and drugs etc.... its a bit of a joke and it makes for great entertainment.

If you take music to seriously you will loose everytime..

Yep I agree with you .
But there are people who believe in God and to me they are dumb.
So who's right?
Everybody cause we're free to believe in whatever we want too .
I remember when Alice Cooper started his terror theater at the stage people wanted to kill him LOL
While they're not breaking the law,it's cool.
And I'm not talking only about satanists,catholic church tortured and killed millions.
That's why I said there are dumb people out there who even believe in gnomes.

Is it bad that millions of people worship God? Hell no!!
Like 6fingers said, 90% of these "satanists musicians" do it only for the show. And the 10% take it really seriously, so what?. For each satanist that takes it too seriously, there must be like thousands of christians that take it too seriously. And I think (no offense intended) christians have killed more people than satanists over the centuries.

It's all about tolerance!!!

Also if you actually research about satanism, you would see that most of it if not all of it has very little to do with worshipping the devil and sacrificing virgin women :P . Its more about living a lifestyle where you are free from the rules that most religions put upon its people...
