Ibanez vs Jackson players

I spoke to a dealer in London yesterday that said Jackson were coming back into vogue after 10 years in the wildnerness, as a result of their dealers being significantly expanded to all fender dealers. And also due to Ibanez not doing anything significent in 18 months.

But if I go over to the jackson forums at jcfonline.com I question why are the people on this forum so nice in comparison. It seems like there's a lot of aggro over there. Not to mention being lied to by a Jackson dealer, in my own experience, and the 6-12 month wait on anything.

It's enough to make me forget abou these other brands and stick with Ibanez for the forseeable future. In the past Ibanez was the dark side when they were associated with nu metal, but today I just see them as banging out exceptional guitars for very little money by comparison to ESP and Jackson. But damn, IMO, Ibanez need to bring out some new finishes and get away from this drab stuff. And some new options such as maple and ebony fretboards, reverse headstocks, different pickups.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

I've noticed that ibanez players are the regular people that dress like normal people (with band ****rs) who just happen to be good shredders while jackson users tend to go all out goth. Just judging from what i've seen at my school's music program.

i've had many ibanez', many Jacksons, and a couple of b.c richs and i dress completley normal. also are you saying that people who play jacksons aren't good shredders compared to those of ibanez, because the last time i checked you cant categorize people by what brand they prefer to play or how they dress, and just because jackson and b.c rich offer extreme body styles of guitars dosen't mean that only goth kids play them, its all a matter of personal preference, so don't go out judging people by what they prefer just because you dont like the same thing, cuz according to you guys im a goth kid who cant shred as good as the guys with ibanez'

I have an Ibanez and a Jackson so does that make me a gothic shredder?

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

I prefer Jackson over Ibanez. I like the JCF forum, there are more young people on there, that's the big difference.. Ibanez is losing it's appeal to new guitar players, Jackson is gaining appeal. I play Ibanez and Jackson in the stores a lot, Jackson wins out 10/10 times. The only guitar that Ibanez has right now that is a decent deal is the RGT42DX. And btw, a $900 Ibanez prestige is not going to touch a comperable Jackson.. at $900 a Jackson will be chalked full of features, the Ibanez will be chalked full of a $170 case, crap pick ups, crap hardware, and crap electronics. Nice neck on those Prestige RG's thouggh .
I think most companies have to go through what Ibanez is going through, which is known as sucking. After awhile they'll come back down and realize the name won't sell the guitars, but great guitars will sell the name.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

I don't think I'm good enough to really tell the difference between a painted neck and a non-painted one when I'm playing - but there's a USA soloist on fleabay with the bolts graphic that looks just awesome. If you're into neck-thru, Jackson has way more options, with awesome finishes. And really, when you get into the higher end stuff, the price has a lot to do with finish . . . .

I don't mind Jacksons at all ( and dare I say it, some of the early-mid 90's gunslinger/assassins ), It's all they need is the company sorting out. You don't get much bang for the buck at the moment.

I've tried a few Gunslingers out and really liked em! Modern BCs are naff though. I have yet to try anything from their re-opened custom shop, I've heard its extreeeeemely expensive.

Trying very hard to save up for a Jackson Custom shop jobby... They said they'd use an Ibanez bridge instead of OFR/Jackson if I wanted, which rocks!

Oh cool! That's very generous of them offering a opposing company bridge option! I've heard good things about BC Rich's custom shop, apart from the fact it can take up to a year to arrive.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

Jackson and BC Rich guitars are as good as Ibanez it depends what you're after Jackson currently has a wider variety than Ibanez and their Custom shop is awesome same goes for BC Rich and ESP on the other hand Ibanez doesn't offer anything of the like and they just keep churning out boring models save for a couple good things. Qualitywise after playing for 15 years I've found the lower end Jackson models to be of better quality than Ibanez

Well I wouldn't say no to a Jackson, so that I can have something different. At the moment, Jackson are doing the finishes that us Ibanez lovers would like.
