Re: Irish Folks - Cork

You can eat potatoes......
I went to Ireland for part of my Eurotrip last year. They fed us potatoes every meal. NO JOKE! Even the "mystery plates" in some of the restaurants were potatoes.

Do you ever notice that one food on your plate that's ALWAYS there, those are potatoes.

It's true I do love my taters. But no joke that's about all the food I got when I went to Ireland, a bunch of Potatoes. An Irish meal that's not full of potatoes is about as common as a sober Irishman walking out of a bar!

(If that joke offends someone, tell me and I'll delete it.)

Re: Irish Folks - Cork

Not to derail the thread but everyplace you'll eat in Ireland has mushrooms on the menu as well, and those are always awesome, and usually different from place to place. I'd rather be in Galway (or Kilkenny) than Cork myself, but there should be decent places all around anyway.

I do agree!! It's an acquired taste for sure, the dark stuff is certainly not to everyone's liking.

When I'm in Ireland I stick to Harp or Smithwicks, but Harp gives you a killer hangover. You can feel it starting while you're still drinking, a lot like the Chimay Blue label. Smithwicks in any pub in Kilkenny is still the best way to go for me
