Is anyone tired of all this spending?
Is anyone tired of all this spending? Or is anyone even paying attention?
Our president is going to spend more than a trillion dollars on a SPENDING bill, not stimulus, and no one even cares?
I just saw an ad on youtube that says, and Im quoting this,
FREE GOVERNMENT MONEY
Obama
is giving away more money than ever before to help the American people.
Learn how you can claim FREE government money that NEVER HAS TO BE REPAID!
Obama said in a press conference today, (paraphrasing) His administration would be more responsible with money, a thing that the previous administration wasn't very good at. And that he would not spend money that we dont have.
And he just spent more than a trillion dollars of pork that WE DONT HAVE. My generation, and generations after mine will have to pay this off. And for things like sod, and bee insurance, STD education, what the hell is bee insurance BTW???
Is anyone paying attention to this, or do you even care that this guy is spending all of OUR MONEY?????????

Re: Is anyone tired of all this spending?
Pretty political so I am feeling a locking soon but no one really knows what would happen if the government were to help or not but if they help and it actually helps the economy then it is a good thing. They are trying to help a depression, isn't it a good thing to try and help.
Also doesn't that FREE government money have many different prerequisites for different situations and different amounts. Such as start a business, get an education, help get out of debt (many need this with the Credit Card company's running wild and OCC not doing crap).
It isn't just Obama that is spending the money, it is the government itself that is trying to help our economy, you have to make sacrifices when economic conditions are bad, don't cry about it.

Didn't Bush pass a stimulus package last year or so? I don't hear people complaining about that one. Anyways start the countdown until thread lock down.

We had a thead about how awesome obama was after he was elected. It was more than 10 pages long. But I guess we cant have a thread that criticizes obama, only ones that worship him.

But you are putting it in an extreme sense, capitalism and
socialism
both don't work perfectly. Capitalism needs regulation and help because the whole cycle is based off boom, recession, depression and back to boom.
Without any outside forces we'd go through these horrible conditions more often. And government won't get too powerful from giving us money or making programs to create jobs, government will get too powerful if we start losing checks and balances. The same the economy should have and needs.
With what I mentioned on credit cards, they majorly need some checks and balances.

I don't see where it has lost its checks and balances. Unless you are speaking of democratic congress and democratic president being the loss of checks and balances.
Anything like that with any party does mean a little more agreeance among parts of government. I do personally prefer having different parties in congress and presidency. But the people are usually pretty dumb and vote in a party, then dislike them, then vote in an opposite party in congress then are apathetic, then vote in the same party for presidency.
It seems as if people see everything as black and white, democrat and republican.
However sometimes it is good to have both in because if legislation such as a bailout bill might help but the other party is against it, it would cause less hesitation for something that may be needed quickly. (hope I worded that correctly, my migraine I've had the last 6 days has been killing me)

Yeah, thats part of it. A long time ago the media kept the government in check, they were the ones who informed the people about what the government was doing. Now I feel that mainstream media is dead, and its just a bunch of partisan bs.
Hope your migraine goes away, maybe you should take a break from political discussions.

Yeah I think I'm going to take a nap haha.
But yeah the media isn't very good at reporting what is going on, there is a twist on every network and I feel like it's all for ratings now and not for telling what is going on.

The media has long since given up trying to be the voice of reason or objectively cover what is going on. Media outlets, both print and otherwise, exist only to make money for their owners; just like every other business. Partisan BS is a GREAT way to ensure you have a built in audience.

Re: Is anyone tired of all this spending?
Yup. There will always be stories from the media on how some company or some government agency is spending money on some ridiculous project. That sort of thing makes good "copy" for news print. Unfortunately it is difficult these days to get an informed opinion from a general news outlet. You really have to read the industry journals or talk to an expert to really get the inside scoop.
