Is there a reason why......

People join Jemsite only to sell a guitar they are selling on the bay? Check out the latest "member" who was allegedly "gauging interest" for a certain RR guitar.

Sorry folks but, that's just the kind of thing that's extremely irritating IMO.

Some do it becasue it is free unlike that site. They do it because they see alot of similiar gear being sold fairly quickly here and we have a buttload of members.

Personally I would not put alot of trust in someone here who would join and then almost same day post in the classified selling something.

I wonder if something can be done to prevent people from doing that kind of stuff. Although the guy was genuinely selling a guitar, there should be some sort of trial period before new members can sell stuff here.

irritating it maybe ... but what the hell does it matter, you ain't forced to buy anything are you, or even read their forsale ads if you don't want to.. and who knows, you might even find something you're looking for from a new member at some point.. live and let live dude..

Re: Is there a reason why......

I have no problem with someone joining to sell gear. I just hope they offer us some great deals. Like a JPM for $20.00 or a Jem for $12.00 or a Mesa triple Rec for $7.00.

Oh what a wonderful daydream.

But I do agree with the aspect of gauging interest. We all know the rules of the classifieds area. Post a price, dont link to that place that starts with an E.

And don't have an item on the E and try to sell it here at the same time.

These are great rules and cuts down on lots of useless posts.

The Kramer forum will not even allow you to se the classified section till after a while you've been registered and after a certain number of posts!

And the Jackson/Charvel Forum requires a $20 contribution to post a classified ad there

Hey if we can get gear and they get the money we were going to buy gear with anyway...It's a wash. Then they go away and leave us alone!! Awesome!!
