Its not one dude who strangled someone. I suggest y'all investigate studies on these matters. People who watch violent images are conditioned to find sexual arousal in the pain of their partners and even in their deaths.

If someone wants to jack off to a Jenna Jameson flick and that's their business. If someone wants to jack off to a snuff film where they actually kill a girl that's no longer just their business. It becomes the business of law enforcement.

I suggest people who don't understand banning these films have daughters. It'll change your perspective very fast.

Actually a lot of research shows that access to this type of the material may reduce violence towards women by giving an outlet for the people that would normally commit those types of acts. There are probably just as many studies that say the exact opposite. Psychology is not completely quantifiable, which means that perceptions of the people conducting the studies can very easily change them for their own views.

For example, there was one study, I believe it was comic book reading (I may have this confused with another study, but the idea was right) that interviewed a bunch of violent criminals and found most of the read comic books, therefor they concluded comic books caused violence. However, another study found that a very similar amount of all males read comic books, which eliminated the first studies conclusion. The first study wasn't done improperly, it was just poorly designed because the person doing it wanted to prove his theory.

I would be a bit skeptical about studies saying violent pornography causes people to be violent because a variety of studies on different subject matters have been shown to cause violence and then refuted as biased studies. It doesn't mean that violent pornography doesn't cause violence, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, but this is an area of study where you can't jump to a conclusion from a few studies.

I am a Father, and I love all 3 of my daughters (as well as my son)...

I am a male, and I enjoy porn...

If my daughter were killed violently by someone like this, I would lose my mind and try to do everything in my power to reverse it. If that meant hurting thousands of others in some way so be it...So though I don't agree at this point, I understand what would drive someone to that.

It's a bit surprising this (the killing) happened in the UK, because they are a lot more liberal in their views. That non suppressive mentality helps people cope a lot easier...This is more of a suppressive American kind of crime...

The article doesn't say (unless I missed it) whether Coutts and Longhurst knew each other or not. If this was a random killing where he jumped out of the bushes and attacked her, or whether they got together and things went awry...These are 2 different scenarios altogether...I'm not condoning either one though...No daughter should ever be killed ...

Apparently they did know each other, but he claims they we're in a sexual relationship and it was a consensual thing that went wrong, whereas witnesses state that she was already in a long-standing relationship with someone else, and didn't hint to anyone that her and Coutts were more than friends. He was convicted, so obviously the jury didn't believe his version.

It's just a very sad case, and another example of how the world is becoming more and more bizarre.
