+1. Buying an Apple computer is like buying the brand name. They are overrated and costly. But that is just my opinion.....

Just clicked on "Submit Order" on a new 15" MacBook Pro which was $46 cheaper than a similarily spec'd Dell Precision M65.

My sister used to have an iMac which has a spoilt motherboard. We couldnt buy the motherboard from a normal computer shop because it is very propietory. We have to send the computer to Apple's service centre to have it replaced, and the bill we got was $450 (Singapore dollars).

I could have a motherboard replaced in a DIY computer for less than $100 (Sing). Talking about daylight robbery!

Id rather my mac blow up after a year than have to use a PC for 4 years. My 1800 dollar dell is useless for recording.

Usually mac users are against PC because they truely don't understand how a computer works.

Pc's are for the computer enthusiasts. People who want more control over their hardware and software.

I work as a 3d Animator and Video Editor and the entire Studio runs in PC.

The only reason a mac exists in the studio is to make sure websites work in mac format.

My sister who has a masters degree in Multimedia and graphic design only uses mac,
yet she comes to me when problems arise, as she only knows how to use software and not how to use the computer.

I dont like macs OS its really not as user friendly as everyone makes it out to be.

I like Macs style and looks but thats about it.

$5000 can get you one hell of a mac, but $5000 can get you a mac killer PC.

and Id kill a mac any day of the week... ahahahahahha

Was at the Porcupine tree show a couple weeks ago.
They use a mac for their multimedia show.
It shut down mid set and took 15 minutes before it was back up and running again. I'd say that is as good a testament as any that they are far from infallible. That said, use what you like.

That sounds to me like an overheating problem and not a computer problem per se. Where was their mac located? Some people tend to ferget that a pc needs to breathe and when things like this happen, the haters come out and say macs suck, etc. etc. I'm neither for nor against but, I take what works.

All I saw was a goofy looking mac logo or icon, a white screen of death, then they switched the display off the overheads. This was at the Park West and it was well ventilated. The mac was on the stage from what I could tell off to the side. Any machine is heat sensitive PC or Mac, believe me, I'm water cooled, I know about cooling PC's My CPU temp runs at 37 Deg C. after 24 hours before taking the reading. Either way, I don't quite get the pissing contest between the two platforms I like PC, Someone else likes mac, congrats, eh? If you're happy, BE happy.
