the move for the Islanders is only about 20 miles, from the absolute middle of nowhere to a large new arena in the heart of Brooklyn and a few minutes from Manhattan. If they can play at all they will grow their fanbase I think.
I thought I heard Rick Nash got injured playing overseas, but not sure about that? I'm so angry at all of them it's tough to care. they'll need to be back and playing for a while before I'll dive right into it again. I'm definitely not coming back Day 1, I'm taking off as many days as they are.

Nash's injury was minor but they pulled him as a precaution.
Yeah, it took me a few years to come back after the last strike. I didn't think a year-long lockout would occur again so soon. They all suck. I wish more minor league games were televised. Maybe I can find them on the net.

For those of you who are missing NHL hockey you should tune in and watch the World Junior tournament - these guys are playing really great hockey!!! plus international hockey is always exciting to watch with national pride on the line.

The games are on very early in the morning because of the time difference so you have to pvr them but is high quality hockey. I'm guessing this might fly under the radar in the US but this tournament is always a big deal up here and gets huge ratings on TSN

Well I just watched the Canada vs US World JR game and I am totally bummed that we lost ...although I will say that if we are going to lose to another country then I would want it to be to our neighbours to the south cuz I do care deeply for our American neighbours - congrats US and I hope you beat the Swedes for gold! ...and hopefully we can beat the Russians and at least take home a Bronze...

Not sure if you guys in the US are watching this tournament but if you aren't you should be because it is excellent hockey...and it's a pretty big deal up here....if the medal games are as good as the games leading up then we are in for a couple of superb medal games!

I am convinced that there will be no NHL this year:

One day after the NHLPA decided against declaring a disclaimer of interest before a midnight deadline in the current CBA talks with the NHL, the players have begun voting to give their executive board the authority once again to make the move if they so desire. Voting began at 6pm et and will be completed over the next 48 hours.

Congrats US on your gold medal at the world juniors !! Thoroughly depressed that Canada didn't come away with a medal (first time in 14 years) if u didn't watch any of the tournament then u missed out cuz that was some great hockey!

I think I'll have to see if there's a replay of the Juniors on youtube or something. I couldn't find it on TV here. Way to go USA all the same.
Now if we could only get some respect in soccer.
