pc problems help needed

morning all.ok all you pc wizards,a few weeks ago i had to reinstall windows coz i downloaded a music downloader and buggered my pc,anyway thats sorted now,but i cant play any of my pc games (they did work before i buggered pc). after i reinstalled windows i lost all my photos,music ect.what do i need to download to make games work again,i can install them but they just wont play.they are compatible with my pc (windows xp).would be very greatfull for any advice.rob

After re-installing Windows XP, did you go through all the windows updates, including Service pack 2 and then service Pack 3 ?

Games need the latest Direct x but most likely when you install a game it installs the direct x for you ..

Download the latest graphics drivers, very important.

What happens when you try and run the games ?
