Thumbs down

So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

Which BTW is using some horrible software that needs fixed, anyhow, I go in there the other day and I can no longer post.

So I create a new account asking why. I know before the forum acted up and caused some users not to be able to post.

I go back the next day and that account is deleted and the thread I made was too.

So now I am thinking I was banned. But I can't for the life of me think of anything I did that would be CLOSE to banning material.

The mods run the place horribly, and value no consumer input.

I found a bug for them once and the one admin told me it was basically a user error and got all condescending to me.

I wonder if Ibanez knows it's forum admin. treats the customers this way.

Just real obnoxiousness going on. I bet Ibanez has no clue.

I like some of the people there. It's just not run in a professional way.

Not at all.

So that's why you haven't popped up over there lately!

Yeah there are a few ok peeps over there. Pity about the constant questions about the RG350/370s and Edge IIIs over and over. If only forum admin would sticky some of the stuff posted up there!

Re: So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

Well the thread is still there.

So far.

I guess I am more let down than anything. I don't think this is the image Ibanez wants to project to their customers.

And that is what I am.

Jemsite is way better anyway. Though, I do enjoy heading over there to see what's going on. Sometimes you can get an inside scoop, to a degree.

From your thread @ Ibanez.com:

Violation of the forum rules and regulations will result in an immediate 2 week suspension without warning. Consistent violations will result in deletion of your membership.

Posted by an admin.

So, it looks like they suspended you?

Re: So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

For WHAT? WHAT DID I DO? And look, that thread is now deleted. It says NOTHING.

They have no back-bone. AND they should NOT be treating loyal customers like this.

Anyone have a email that goes to someone that actually matters at Ibanez?

I think the people running said forums forgets it's for the consumers. Not them to act like jackasses.

I doubt Ibanez knows how it's being run. Or that any complaint about the crappy forum software gets ignored, or blamed on the consumer.

Yes, I have all that stuff where the admin went off on me that one time becasue I complained about legitimate forum bugs.

They went and deleted a ton of other threads in there as well.

ANd they can ban me without warning. I don't care. That isn't my complaint.

How is one supposed to know not to do what got them banned again when they never tell you what you are being banned for?

This is just obnoxious!

When one gets banned from a forum, usually there is no question as to WHY they are getting banned. The whole forum pretty much knows.

No one over there has a clue what I did. Including me. And I have a feeling it was something really lame or petty, and THAT is why they wont say ****.

It's just getting obnoxious.

Again, I doubt Ibanez knows how it's own forum is being run.

Re: So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

Well I went to post one day and it gave me an error saying I wasn't allowed to because I hadn't been "approved" yet.

I wasn't able to msg anyone so I created a new account and msg Jay13. A few days later I got NO response.

Posted a thread asking about it. Thread was deleted, account was removed, and my email that I used to register it with was blocked.

So now I am thinking WTF? And I am trying to think of ANYTHING I could have done to get me banned. Looked back at my last 15 posts I made. Nothing.

So I registerd a new account and posted the thread I linked to in here. Same thing happened. It was deleted, and the account I used was as well.

Very unprofessional of Ibanez. Esp since I am a paying customer. Have been since the 80s.

I don't believe I have done anything to deserve this. And I think it has to do with certain mods personal egos.

I'd love to find a email address where I could get ahold of those in charge about this.

As I am sure they are clueless how the forum is ran. Atleast I HOPE they are. I would hate to think Ibanez approves of such behavior.

That is no way to gain business.

Re: So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

They should at least tell you why you are banned. You might not like the answer, but there should be a reason/answer. Like you said, how are you to know what exactly NOT to do? Beyond the obvious of course (following the forum rules). Maybe they just wanted to make an example of you. I don't know?

I personally haven't had a problem. Then agian I don't tell them that thier forum software is buggy at times. There is evidence of them making "improvements", as far as the forum software is concerned. I think they know there are issues. Perhaps, they were tired of you "reminding" them of the problems publicly.

If you read the forum rules you will see that it leaves room for interpretation.

No profanity or obscene language.
No flaming or personal attacks to forum members.
No sexually oriented, pornographic, hateful or threatening content or comments.
No Advertising, Spam, Referral Links, Solicitations, or Classifieds.
No Cross-posting.
No unsubstantiated rumors or speculations.
No politics, race, religion, nationality, or similar types of discussion/debates.
No bootlegging, piracy or other illegal activity discussions.
No inappropriate or misleading topic titles.

Some of those could mean differant things to differant people, depending on your interpretation.

You could probably find a reason to ban more than half the people there if you wanted to.

I am SURE they know how you feel.

They comb this forum as well, which is fine by me....I like the idea that they want to know what is being said about thier products.

To be fair....they have been helpful providing info and parts recently. At least more so now, than in the past.

As far as Jemsite vs. Ibanez.com, it doesn't matter. They both fill two completely differant niches.

I probably just broke a rule here.

Re: So I've been posting over at Ibanez's forum..

Now that I think about it.... they probably suspended you because you keep recommending people to buy used (older) Ibanez's as an alternative to new. That combined with a list of spec.s and configurations that they don't currently provide on the new models. They are, primarily, in business to sell new guitars. I'm pretty sure it's thier bread and butter. So.. when a user on thier forum consistantly suggests that perspective buyers purchase a used guitar as an alternative to new....what would you do?

Some people will probably say...Ibanez will make money on parts, or maybe they'll buy a new Ibanez when they can afford it...blah.

So IF they suspended you for that....how could they say? "We suspended you because you won't stop telling people to buy used stuff. We're in business to sell new guitars. Chill out.. or your suspended/banned." Can you imagine that?

This is all Speculation on MY part.

Regardless, I'm gald to see you over here at Jemsite.

Rock On!!!!
