Swollen cheeck
Ouch!
For some reason, my cheek has swollen up like within two days.
It hurts and can barely open my jaw.
Doc says it'a an abcess or boil in my cheek.
I have anti biotics for it.
It really hurts.

Re: Swollen cheeck
I feel your pain.....
I had something similar.
Take all those pills, because the sooner you can eat food without pain, the happier you'll be.

Re: Swollen cheeck
Isn't always great when the doctor isn't quite sure what's wrong? An abscess would seem to be more of dental problem, where a boil... um, dramatically different I imagine. Once I went to my doctor for something and he told me it was either a virus or a vitamin deficiency... antibiotics OR multivitamins!

Re: Swollen cheeck
Why would an abscess in my cheek be dental?

Re: Swollen cheeck
Abscesses "usually" occur in the gums.

Re: Swollen cheeck
My whole mouth was covered in sores and blisters and everything else you could POSSIBLY imagine. Just be thankful you can cure it with pills or vitamins or whatever. Mine was a virus and we just had to wait for it to "go away". I had them on my tongue, on my gums, in my cheeks, EVERYWHERE. I lived off of soup for about ten days. I will never refuse a piece of meat again.

Re: Swollen cheeck
Well, had a visit to the dentist and consultation with orthadontist, they took exrays and showed me where my wisdom tooth is not growing correctly.
He said it might not flare up again, but his gut instinct is that it will at some point, so he reccomends I have both left side wisdom teeth removed.
I'm quite nervous about this, as they basically will have to cut the gum open, split the tooth, pull it out in bits. It can stretch the nerve and cause numbness and tinglyness around the lips for a while or even longer.
I don't know what to do, he said I can think about it for as long as I wish.

Re: Swollen cheeck
Sounds like a good day at the dentist, I would get it done ASAP if I were you. The longer you wait, the worse it'll be.

Well, right now, it's fine, pain and swelling gone, been fine for months. But he says it may come back.

Ant, damn! You started this thread back in Novemeber.
I'll tell you what to do! Go get them OUT! Most everybody at one point or another has to. I've had mine out (3 at once) I bled like stuffed pig for a little while, but was back up and eating (solids) in a day. It's VERY routine!
Go get them out and you will feel MUCH better
Trust me! I held on to my impacted wisdoms for 2 years and it was hell!
I felt like such an idiot when I almost immediatly felt better after havning them removed.
One more time! Go DO IT, Ant
BTW - Jimmy, you may want to take notice when this thread was originally started
*EDIT* Sorry, didn't read your last post, Ant. If you not having any discomfort, do as you please, but just know that one day, you WILL have to have them removed.
Better sooner than later
