Who do you guys think are responsible for MAJOR changes to rock
guitar playing, the guitar itself, etc. through the years??
Mine are:
1. Les paul-for inventing the electric guitar
2. Jim Marshall-obvious reasons..
2. Jimmy hendrix-for being really the 1st guy to play guitar that way.
He made people want to play guitar, his connection with his instrument
is unreal. You can really FEEL what he was feeling when he played...
3.
Eddie Van Halen-He changed the way not only how guitar was played
but he is responsible for putting a humbucker in a strat.I don't think
anyone else has changed things as much as he did (as a whole...)
4. Floyd Rose-There would no "Pound Cake" with out one
5. Uli Roth (early Scorpions)-Folks, he was doing a lot of things
before Yngwie did 'em..
6. Randy Rhodes-One of the 1st real technical players to get into the rock scene.
7.
Yngwie Malmsteen-ego or not, he was the 1st guy to take neo-classical to level 11!!!!
8.Joe Satriani-He showed us that instrumenatal guitar can be liked by many people,
it's all about the presentation, awsome ideas.TONE TONE TONE!!!!
9. Steve Vai- I don't think ANY ONE else puts more attitude in his playing.
his ideas are so differant.I look at it this way: bluse, country, rock, Steve Vai..
He is absolutly doing it differant than everyone else..
Also, how many companys sell a version of a "super strat" He made
a guitar that's easy to play up top and (I think) he had the 1st doubble
scale neck made (at least for a rock guitar)
To sum it all up, I think Eddie has had the MOST impact on rock
guitar. What is now all goes back to him. Vai is the last one that's
made a major change..
