Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

Me and my cousins started to play guitar at the same time about 18 years ago around 1990 and one christmas we got new guitars and my uncle told us that his bosses sun was coming round after dinner to see our knew guitars . Not thinking much of it we got on with murdering our new axes and then he arrived , it was only Vivian Campbell as you can imagine (floored) so our first lesson was from the great man himself he was a very cool guy too and man could he shred it just looked and sounded so amazing other worldly to our then untrained ears uforgettable experience .

Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

Well, I don't have too many names to drop but I'll give it a shot!

I met Edguy after a show once. Only managed to get 2 signatures though as I had to work the next morning and it was a 2.5ish hour drive home. Silly Tobais taking a shower after a show. If only they were French!

The drummer for Helix breifly came into the store/school I teach at to ask for a job.

I've had as a teacher:
The former aide to the Official Oppostion (Stockwell Day at the time) as a teacher. He had some pretty cool stories. Like how Tim Horton's are dicks and stuff.

Jack Richardson. Which was really cool. Some great stories but I'm running low and time and atleast the one about Alice Cooper deserves a little verbosity. But apparently Men o War are all really nice guys and their family actually supports they being musicians and whatnot.

Terry McManus. Really cool and down to earth guy. Currently managing the Birthday Massacare though...really didn't need to hear about them so much. But his stories about working with Mr. Dressup were often hilarious.

And I had GGGarth Richardson as a guest lecturer at one point. Cool guy who really hates record labels. Or seemed to anyways. Hard to get an entire picture of a guy in just an hour but he seemed to focus on how Downloading has ruined the music industry (not music, just the buisness behing it) but the Labels all had it coming.

On the Old Dragonforce forums a while ago I've bee involved with conversations with Herman, Dave and Fred. Dave even called me a very smart man at one point...but he's a drummer so that doesn't mean much!

Not that anyone remembers NoVO Combo, but their guitarist is my cousin. His name is Jack G. and he's cool as the breeze. He is in the early 80's guitarworld (full page) right after this little known guitarist name Randy Rhoads

George lynch is the man i want to be.... I bought him a cheeseburger at the last clinic he did in Raleigh...i left school drove an hour and arrived at the same time he was unloading...the weather was poor so it was deserted...and it being a ****** i promptly plugged in my Les paul into a Randall V2 and did my best noodling stuff...and sweat poured when i noticed him, his driver, and some of the associates talking about my playing...

later after the show he signed my les paul and said he loved to hear kids playing dream warriors.... yea guilty as charged...oh yea, thanked me for the cheeseburger he hadn't ate yet.

pictures if i figure this cord out.

That victor dude from that soap opera bought me and my gf a chocolate mousse.

noone a list other than that.

hung out with straight line stitch, unearth, Kse (adam kissed me,not ***), Otep hates me, Unknown Hinson and i have a running duel on the Squidbillies quotes..., atreyu have a belt of mine, hawthorne heights were warned of my erections...again not *** (but supportive)

Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

Lita Ford- 90's in store appearence where I work on the Illinois side of St. Louis Missouri (Alvarez endorsee) very nice lady even though she had a cold; my X-wife went home and made her hot tea and she was sooooo thankful.

Dime Bag Darrell- had front row seats and after show passes mid 90's( Fear Factory & White Zombie opened); Dime noticed me and my x-wife NOT mobbing him for Questions and other STUFF so he walks over to the picinic table and offers me his last onhand unopened beer. he sat and talked for about 10mins until the mob of ppl choked him out.

Steve Vai- after show pass Fire Garden Tour; Steve is just a presence that you can't understand unless you've shared words with him. he is the most genuine person yet it's almost like he sucks out your talent as he shakes your hand.

Dokken- My band at the time opened for there "Dysfunctional" tour in St. Louis. Mick Brown was talking to us from the time we opened the door to load in for the show until we loaded out, Jeff Pilson was cordial but a man on a mission getting EVERYTHING setup for the show, George Lynch sat with his Girlfriend/wife and Daughter most of the day as his son was settting up his rig, Don Dokken was left in the Hotel room and we where later told by Mick Brown that they keep him there as he stirs to much **** usually.
I never got the nerve to speak to Lynch ( my personal guitar Hero) until right before there oncore to which he replied "Dude, it was very cool". My brother stole Lynch's shirt that night thinking I'd want it ( I still have said shirt) he was pissed and looking all over for it and I didn't have any idea my brother had it until we got home later that night. My brothers wife babysat Lynch's daughter * I think she was like 8 at the time* on the Tour bus while they played. I didn't find out until the next day that we where invited to a Hotel party by Mick & Jeff........I almost killed the drummer over that one.
Don Dokken IS A PRICK!

Gretchen Wilson- she played in bands around this area before she was signed so I've spoken to her here n there but nothing major.

Jim Murphy- short time guitarist/singer for "Head East" in the 90's. did bussiness with him at the Music Store I work at.

The original Drummer of "Pavlov's Dog" has visited the store........not much to say about that one.

And almost EVERY great Jazz drummer has been thru the store from the 60-80's * none while I have worked there for the last 18 years *
including Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Dave Weckl. I work at the oldest Drum Shop in the MidWest so I get to hear all kinds of cool Jazz drummer stories.

Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

I live very near the Vermont-Quebec border and we have lots of celebs who have "summer homes"on Lake Memphremagog. Funny tho, their summer homes are twice the size of my year round home and a hell of alot nicer! I met Donald and Keifer Sutherland at the post office in a town called Beebe Plains here in Vermont, met Stallone at the grocery store, met Keanu Reeves at the border crossing. He had been in New York and was on his way to montreal for weekend getaway with friends. I also met Nancy Kerrigan at a restuarant where I used to cook. Met Bill Clinton there also.... very cool guy even if he did **** Monica Lewinsky. I saw Jonathon Edwards (folk singer from the 60's and 70's) in Burlington, Vt after a show at Club Metronome. They were all so nice and didn't have even the slightest bit of attitude or anything.

When I met Donald and Keifer they were just there to pick up their mail and I walked in and my jaw dropped. I had just watched the lost boys and lockup the night before so it was kind of fitting. I even told them I had just watched them in those films the night before. They were extremely nice and very down to earth. They talked with me for almost and hour. After they left the postmistress said they come in all the time during the summer. They spend the whole summer at their place just over the canadian border as long as they aren't working on a film.

As for Bill Clinton... I think he was set up by Linda Tripp cuz she was jealous that he wasn't bangin her old, ugly ass. After all, she was the whistle blower and good friends with Monica. I mean, think about it guys. Monica has a dress with Bill's cum on it for a year and doesn't take it to the cleaners? How many women do you know who would not take the dress to be cleaned immediately? Most women I have known are kind of grossed out by and can't even bear the thought of a mans ejaculate anywhere near them. Just my opinion tho!

I am CLOSE friends with Tom Bukovac, the most in demand player in Nashville and Michael Lee Hill who did a remake of Vai's 'Jibboom' to win an Ibanez Jem personally given to him by Steve and also got to play on stage with Via. My great cousin is William Jefferson Clinton. I also know Steve Popovich first Vice President of Columbia Records Cleveland. I also dated the girl in Hanson.

Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

My latest occurred yesterday. I was walking down Chapel St here in Melbourne with my son (almost 3 now, wow time goes so fast!). Anyway, this dude stepped out of a store right in front of us and it was Alice Cooper. We stopped and said hello and he was really nice and friendly, and was really sweet with my son. Cool dude!

Re: The official Name Dropping thread.

I guess I get to age myself here lol My dad was a member of the Regents and was great friends with Dion and the Belmonts. The Belmonts used to come over to my house when I was a kid. My dad went on to work as manager at Fender, Rodgers and Rhodes so I got to meet or at least see a lot of people - Ritchie Blackmore (not at all a jerk like his reputation would suggest), Roy Buchanan, Glen Campbell, pre-superstar Yngwie, Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore (a really nice guy), Paul Rodgers (pretty full of himself), and lots of others.

Buck Dharma when he was demonstrating Engl amps in 1984 or 1985 - the guy is very cool, but really short.

Joe Satriani and Stu Hamm at the Wiltern.

Billy Idol, who was seated behind me at Ozzie in December 1988.

Doyle Dykes and Phil Keaggy several times during the 1990’s in Orange County.

Used to see/talk to Sandy West, drummer for the Runaways, till she passed away a few years ago.

I'm sure I'll think of others later.
