1) Don Henley/Susann Hoffs/Sheryl Crow...1992 Garden State arts Center
Missed Sheryl Crow, Susanna Hoffs was just alright...Don Henley blew my mind! What a great performer great band, and awesome songs!

2) Don Henley...2007 Borgata, Atlantic City, NJ
Again, everything was perfect! Sound, lighting, crowd interaction, musicians, song selection...Truly an amazing artist

3) David Lee Roth-Eat 'Em And Smile...1986 (I think), Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA
It was his birthday show and Vai and Sheehan came out and played happy birthday to him! Great show!! Very cool night!!!

4) Stryper...2005 Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ
Better than they ever were in the 80's, and I got to tour with them back then! Holy sh!t Michael sweet is the best singer I have ever heard!! They are the most underrated band in the history of music!

my best show was life of agony in 1996 at bricktown live (old one that was tore down) in oklahoma city. stuffed 100% beyond capacity.

good times!

There was always a good time to be had at a Ramones show Rory Gallagher opening for Jethro Tull at Shea Stadium? Dream Theater opening for Yes? FM opening for Rush on the Permanent Waves tour? That was an outstanding show...lots of great Rush shows...
I have no idea which was best, but I would do 90% of them over again in a heartbeat
I somehow missed Genesis in this, which was a mistake. I've seen them lots of times in the past, and they were always outstanding amazing shows. Seeing them do 'Suppers Ready', very tough to beat that.

I have to say in general though, while I've had good times seeing bands like Zeppelin, Van Halen, DLR, The Scorpions, Ratt, Dokken, etc and such, they were really just good, fun times. It has always been the prog bands like Yes, Genesis, Mahavishnu, DT, etc that have made me think I was seeing something special and remarkable. I can't actually imagine seeing any metal band and coming away thinking it was a revelation or something, and I like metal (well, some metal anyway)

Re: You're best concert?

In the 80's = Queen,Van Halen and Kiss

1989 = Marillion and Bon Jovi together in a festival

1992 (I guess) = A-HA

1995 = Dio and Bruce Dickinson together

1999 = Stratovarius

Dream Theater played here for 4 times,4 awesome gigs with 3 hours each and an amazing sound quality.
Vai played 3 times here in the 90's,3 awsome gigs as always.

I saw White Lion back in '90 or '91. vito Bratta is absolutly amazing. Also, I went to both of the Metallica shows in Ft Worth Texas in 1996 that was turned into the Cunning Stunts DVD. Stood right below James both nights, and got a pick the first night.

Only 17, so haven't been to as many as all you old geezers, but the best band I've seen so far has been Steel Panther opening of ZZ Top in England. We left after ZZ Top played their first three songs!

That was an amazing show. I bought tickets for my Dad's birthday and went and saw them.

He saw them in 1982/83 during the Number of the Beast tour too. I wish I was old enough to have gone. Alas I was only 3 at the time.

Re: You're best concert?

I can't pick just 1 "best concert", but I''l narrow it down for you.

1976 - 2 big ones - 1) Led Zeppelin, Presence Tour - My 2nd concert ever. 2) Paul McCartney, Wings Over America Tour - My 3rd concert ever. Both shows at the Capitol Centre, Landover, MD.

1978 - Black Sabbath w/ Van Halen as opening act - Civic Center, Baltimore, MD. Ozzy's last original Sabbath tour and Van Halen's first US tour. The music was deafening. My ears are still ringing, 31 years later.

1981 - Frank Zappa - Painter's Mill Music Theater, Reisterstown, MD. Steve Vai's first US tour with Frank. I had always been a Zappa fan since hearing his records at my cousin's, but this was definitely new territory for Frank's band.

2002 - Rush, Vapor Trails tour - Baltimore Arena (formerly the Civic Center), Baltimore, MD. I won 2 tickets from a radio station, 2 days before the concert. I took my wife to her first and my tenth Rush concert. Front. Row. Center. Photo below from a Rush concert photo site. I'm standing directly in front of the tall guy with the dark red shirt. My wife is on my right and there is a guy with a baseball cap to my left.

Re: You're best concert?

Queensryche w/Suicidal Tendencies - Knoxville Civic Auditorium '90: I remember going into this one thinking ST was going to be a bad match for the 'Ryche as an opening band. I was so wrong on that one! They got the crowd pumped and played a great set. Rocky George and Robert Trujillo absolutely killed it, and Mike Muir was a human cyclone! Then Queensryche came out and were, to this day, the most flawless band I have ever seen live. Great light show and stage setup also to go along with the stellar musicianship. The setlist ran the gamut from Empire,(the album they were promoting at the time) to The Warning for the first hour. Then, after a break, they came out and played Mindcrime from start to finish. After all that, came back out for an encore of Silent Lucidity,(the song 90% of the audience was probably there for anyway). From end-to-end a damn-near perfect show in every aspect, and still the best concert I've ever seen.

Other note-able shows I've had the good fortune to see,(all the following in Nashville):

Page & Plant - Sommet Center: I'm not quite old enough to have been able to have seen Zep, so half of that experience is better than nothing! Page was at the top of his game for that show. It was like being in the presence of royalty for a couple of hours.

Michael Hedges - Vanderbilt University: This was on the tour for the Taproot album. There aren't appropriate words to describe how well he carried his live show. Best I can say is that his sound was immaculate, his playing was dead-on, and he was a lot funnier than I expected. He was a consummate player AND entertainer.

Concrete Blonde - 328 Performance Hall: Mexican Moon tour. Huge sound for a three-piece, and Johnette Napolitano's voice can throw you to the back of the room when she lets loose!

Rush: Seen them three times,(Counterparts, Test For Echo, and R30) and each time has had its significance. No details needed. One of the finest bands ever.

Yes w/Kansas - Starwood Amphiteater: Masterworks tour. Igor was on keys for Yes. Other than that, it was the classic lineup. Close To The Edge, Starship Trooper, Gates Of Delirium, Ritual... all the best stuff!

Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band - Sommet Center: 2008, I think. Between Bruce, Stevie, and Nills, the largest quantity of vintage instruments I've ever seen used in a concert. Bruce's energy could power a small city! Only downer for me was that I felt sorry for Clarence Clemons. His health has definitely caught up with him, as he had to spend the bulk of the show sitting down. He can still play that sax like a mutha, though!

Ozzy w/Alice In Chains - Starwood Amphitheater: This was the tour for No More Tears,(officially called the "No More Tours" tour, as Ozzy claimed he was going to retire. Yeah...). Ozzy is a lot of fun live. Zakk was a monster and his solo could kill small animals back then. This was also the last tour for AiC with the full original lineup,(Mike Inez was still in Ozzy's band). 'Dirt' had just been released that week and they were a lot better than I expected. Layne Staley looked like some kind of mutant insect and was a real trip to watch.

There are plenty more but those are the ones that stick out in my mind.

Re: Your best concert?

For the moderators and any others old enough.... I was 15 in 75 and my first concert was Kiss... don't laugh, but I had never heard of the warm up bands.. Ted Nugent, Bod Seger, and Montrose. Was an incredible day I'll never forget. Kiss put on a good show too. (Aneheim Stadium, California.) Also next concert was Pink Floyd at the time of "Animals" . Those were the days. Tom
