Re: You're best concert?

All fairly recent but hey, I'm a youngin' and concert experiences seem to be getting better each time I go.

Steve Vai - Sound Theories Tour London show. Almost got ruined by a very immature former friend I had invited, she bailed at the last minute without any notice, tried calling her a few times since I bought the tickets with her in mind as she was a huge Vai fan and and practically blew that year's student loan trying to get hold of Evo Experience tickets. (Turns out she decided to cut me out of her life, she'd got a new fella a few weeks prior) A mate tagged along at the last minute, turned out to be the best night I'd had in years.

Joe Satriani - Musterion of Rock London show. Satch with an amazing set-list and Gilbert opening, sneaking in a Mr. Big tune in his short set list. I got lost and bumped into Paul outside the bar just before the show too, got handed a beer he was carrying and a pat on the back followed by, "Hi" and a friendly smile. That's called being in the wrong place at the best possible time.

Level 42 - London show (seeing a pattern here?) Went to see them at the O2 earlier this year. Fantastic venue for arena rock bands, if Van Halen ever come to the UK, the O2 should be on their list of places to play.

I was at one of those shows too (June 10th), but you must have been a bit higher than me.

(the shows were in '77 )

I stand corrected - my ticket stub says June 10th, 1977. I must have been higher *cough* my seat that is - but I do remember Jimmy was having a bad day - first, the roadies had to help him onto the stage and then he dropped his LP and he seemed to have a hard time coordinating himself to bend over and pick it up -

But my favorite song of all-time KASHMIR was a religious experience for me- it was THAT GOOD. I never knew JPJ played keys - no bass guitar - when they did it live.

Def Leppard in Stockholm I think it was 1988 on the Hysteria tour.
Great concert. Also Albert Lee in Sweden a snowy and cold winter about 10 years ago was amazing.

Deep Purple 10/07/06, the night after Italy won the world championship of football/soccer. I woke up in a fountain that day, trying to get myself right to go to the concert was a strange experience

Re: You're best concert?

Best concert was my first. Steve Vai Fire Garden tour in an 18+ venue when I was 17.

(p.s. I don't really mind, but if possible can a mod edit the title? Every time I read it I read it as, "You are best concert?" lol)

Re: You're best concert?

I've seen thousands of concerts, so I don't know which was the best. ELP with the orchestra maybe, or Floyd doing 'The Wall', or Yes on any of their 70's tours? Man, I've been thinking about this for a few days, and there are just too many. Brand X opening for The Mahavishnu Orchestra maybe? One of the 200 or so times I saw The Ramones? There was always a good time to be had at a Ramones show Rory Gallagher opening for Jethro Tull at Shea Stadium? Dream Theater opening for Yes? FM opening for Rush on the Permanent Waves tour? That was an outstanding show...lots of great Rush shows...
I have no idea which was best, but I would do 90% of them over again in a heartbeat

The worst was Elvis Costello though, that's a much, much easier call. He excused the band after 3 songs and did the rest of the show by himself with an acoustic, and it was awful. And Paul McCartney was in in NY at the time, and 'Veronica' (which they had recorded together) was on the charts, so the whole audience stayed thinking Paul would be a surprise guest for a 'Veronica' encore. No dice.

The best concert I have been to thus far has to be hands down Circa Survive+Thrice at the Avalon in Hollywood (sometime last year.)
