4 New Videos up at DaveWeiner.com

Yup. It was time to add some new vids. So Chris (my bassist) and I recorded the videos to go along with the tab I posted last week. I also added a bloopers video. We shot these vids after a loooong rehearsal. you know how that can feel.

Enjoy.

Cool! I love that orange/white burst finish, it reminds of of an orange cream popsicle or something (yes, that's a compliment!).

Wow, that is like the coolest riff ever.

Was it originally written on guitar or bass?

really cool stuff! Thanks a lot dave. i like the praty piece very much. The picking sound is really loud and that makes it sound as if there were two guitars playing. hehe. hope to see more! how about some live videos? that would be cool i guess! =))

Nice videos. The bloopers one was really funny "Did you set the metronome to 137?" "Nooo!" ROFL

There was something I couldn't make out from the vid though. In the Long Run Riff#1, the little arpeggio that goes like:
E>----7
B>--8--
G>9----
Do you make that with a sweep? Or is it alternate picking?? I've been doing with sweeping, but am curious to know what you do there

Yes I pick that. The only sweeping on the entire album is during the slow part on "Long Run".

Bet sweep picking is not your best technique then right? By the way....you use alternate picking only or also hybrid picking?

...Okay so I will admit. I watched those videos and it sent my into a frenzy of praticing for two hours. I cannot wait to see you guys tear it up live!!! Definitely some sweet vids thanks a ton Dave. and the bloopers was definitely funny as hell...me and my friends actually recorded a demo to sell to our friends and people who show up to shows and stuff and theres a bunch of stuff like that as a tag on the end. it's always fun!! Thanks dudes!!

Sweeping (to me) is a dated sounding technique. But used properly, it's affective. I like smaller sweeps rather than the big 80's 6 string sweeps.

Picking.. I use alternate, and 2 hybrids. 1 has picking and sliding/legato (but light on the legato) and 2 is picking/fingerpicking as demonstrated in the "Long Run" Lead Riff 1 video.
